Has anyone seen an article that seriously says that “unwanted groping” is just boys being boys? Because that seems to be the meme floating through Left this morning on Facebook.
I’m just curious because I’ve never seen that one before. It seems to be accepted as gospel but I’m pretty sure that it’s another one of those things that not happened.
Growing up in the 80s, I never heard of something like that being ok. Boys being boys never covered that. Boys being boys was doing dumb, and potentially self-hazarding stuff, with your friends.
And since I’m on the topic, allow me to offer a few thoughts. (Yes, I know. Like assholes everyone has one.. or is one.. or both.)
The Left seems to have gone full groupthink on Kavanaugh. First, he must be guilty because someone claimed he did something 36 years ago, which apparently was so offensive they did not reveal it until 2012 (or 30 years later). Somehow, the revelation 30 years after the event proves that it happened. Forget the fact that in the 30 year old version there are four boys. Forget the fact that in neither version can the alleged victim remember when it happened or where it happened.
Let’s not even start on why lie detectors are a terrible way to verify whether a person is telling the truth. They’re so bad, courts, which will allow all sorts of junk science in, prohibit their use as evidence.
Second, it’s bullying and unfair to require the alleged victim to testify about the alleged assault before punishing the alleged predator. It’s like the claim of racism, except it’s use is to protect women from having their claims questioned when they cannot claim to be some sort of POC (Cf Senator Elizabeth Warren). Once made, according to them, it cannot be rebutted.
Third, in order for the alleged victim to be fairly asked to testify about their claims, the FBI must first investigate the alleged crime. Which requires the FBI to investigate a crime for which they have zero jurisdiction at this time. Add to that there absolute dearth of clues the alleged victim can provide about the event.
Fourth, the entire process must come to a halt to investigate this claim, even though it was first brought to the attention Congresswoman Anna Espoo back in July. The date I’ve seen reported is July 20. So then they sat on this allegation through 10 Days in July. And all of August. And most of September. Otherwise, it’s unfair that she isn’t able to benefit from an investigation she initiated by crying wolf but is unable to give details about.
Having watched the Anita Hill debacle, I have to say, I’m pretty appalled. At least with Anita Hill, there were facts. It was plausible. It was not something that had been kept secret for decades, calling into question the validity of the memories.
Could Kavanaugh be guilty of what his accuser alleged? Yes. But at the same time, theres no proof, theres no corroboration. We’re just told that because of the sins of others, Kavanaugh must now suffer.
Is this really the precedent we want to set?
Look, if there was proof, why won’t they show it? If he’s the predator that they are claiming, why haven’t more wine come forward? Are we really going to believe that, if this did happen, it was going to be a one time thing? Based on my experience as a guy, who hangs out with guys who like women, the type of event claimed by the accuser is usually not a one time thing. I could see it as being a first time thing, but not a one time thing.
Predators, because thats what people who commit sexual violence, rarely stop at one. That’s why, if you have a younger sister (and please, save any of your claims of misogyny or paternalism, a good brother watches out for their sister period. We sometimes know stuff our sisters don’t know), you know to keep her away from the predators that you know about. So where are the others? Or even the other guys that would have not wanted their sisters to be around Kavanaugh?
It’s not like there hasn’t been people who would be more than willing to listen and trumpet their tales. Hell, we’ve seen the Left’s allies in the media conducting dragnets through social media to try and find anyone who might corroborate the claims made against Kavanaugh.
I don’t know Kavanaugh. I cannot tel you if he is a good man. Like President Obama’s, the most I can say about him personally is that I have not heard he abuses his wife. I only know some of his work. What I do know is that what is happening in the process here and now is manifestly unfair.
Either the accuser testifies and gives compelling enough testimony to substantiate their accusation, or Kavanaugh should be approved by the Senate for position of Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. Any other outcome would be a gross display of the worst kind of politics.
