I'm a bit disappointed Cardinal Jean-Claude "Saving yourself for marriage is bourgeois" Hollerich was eliminated in the prelims. Guess we're not ready for the first Zen Catholic pope.

Oh no! I just read up on him and he seems delightful.

First off, he's from Luxembourg! Particularly grew up in Vianden, which isn't really relevant to his character but they have an absolute smashing castle you should consider visiting

Anyway back to Cardinal Hollerich

Some of his views:

favours female deacons

wants to normalise homosexuality and supports the blessing of homosexual unions (this is huge!)

Open to relaxing priestly celibacy

tries to implement ecological changes in his personal life

He has a very firm disdeain for those who cling to conservative Catholicism

Condemnation of fornication, for example, is not biblical morality according to Hollerich but rather the remains of an out of date “bourgeois mentality of the nineteenth century.”

I have been listening to your podcast and have reached episode 14 and I think you missed something about Edythe. When Edward strokes Bella's face, but Edythe grabs Beau's hand to stroke her face, it's not because having your face touched is for girls. It's because Edythe is a catgirl. She is straight up nuzzling Beau's hand.

Also my phone autocorrect really doesn't like the name Edythe.

This is a horrible ask but when you mentioned George repeating the cycle by getting a new girlfriend and calling her "Shannon" I suddenly remembered Mr Boop, the webcomic about a man married to Betty Boop. But when a copyright lawsuit forces him to end the webcomic and publicly admit he was never actually married to Betty Boop IRL, he starts dating a woman called "Elizabeth" and begins calling her Betty...

unironically i think a mr boop type situation is probably scarily close to the actual truth of what happened between kinzo and beatrice

No, I haven't! One of my friend does though and all they had to say is "it's a love story", so that's interesting imo. Since I do know someone in there dies a lot. I do wonder how it handles Princesses though

I think traditionally you'd have both your given name and a courtesy name you get when you become an adult. I think the rule is your elders can call you by your given name and other people should use your courtesy name.

But there's also your childhood name, which is like only used by like close family members and otherwise is very insulting.

I think Wei Ying is his given name so it's just slightly informal or familiar rather than outright disrespectful.

I'm mainly getting this from watching Three Kingdoms TV shows where Cao Cao (given name) gets called Cao Mengde (courtesy name) when people are trying to be polite and respectful, and Cao Ahman (childhood name) when they're calling him the great traitor and threatening to tear him apart. So I might be missing some thing.

I think in MDZS there aren’t 3 names for each person, just your childhood one and then the courtesy name. You get titles (?) too, but I don’t think they count as names. I read something in the glossary about how MXTX let the characters receive their courtesy names earlier and not when they’re like 20.

So yeah! According to your observations, random mob character was spitting on Wei Wuxian’s grave by calling him Wei Ying.

I’ve never read it! I know the author wrote Homestuck fanfiction and that in that universe there’s still a pseudo clown church and also a Barbie Vriska but I’m not sure about anything else.

I know it’s not a visual novel but would people be interested in my thoughts on it someday?
