AOT text post
I have been kinda thinking of this idea of what if Connie and Pieck perhaps dated for a little bit post-rumbling,
I could see them largely hitting it off with their witty personalities and I think it would be a really good relationship for a bit.
That said I don't think it be an enduring relationship, I imagine outside of witty banter, they have very different interests from one another and it's hard to maintain a relationship by purely cracking wise.
I think it would be a mutual decision between them as they realize they want different things. They still wanna be friends of course and even going so far as to refer to each other lovingly as “old flames” cause they didn't wanna refer each other their as an “Ex”.
9/(?) AOT Rare Pair Requests : ConPiku
What the people who complain about the lack of canon Jeankasa interactions don’t seem to understand is that it’s all about the potential. Same with Jeanpiku. We take what’s there and expand on it. If people want to confine themselves to canon, that’s fine! But I’m begging people to at least tap into the creative sides of their brain and understand why people ship pairings with little canon interactions. As soon as I saw people on tiktok saying that Jearmin didn’t make any sense, that’s when I knew this fandom lost the plot. Jearmin, of all ships.
When people say there's a lack of canon JK interactions, I kinda pity them because clearly they do NOT know how to sustain themselves off crumbs. Y'all would not survive the Great Hiatus of 2013-2017 and I stand by it.
Like what you said, some ships really are about the potential. If the characters are written well enough and you have a solid grasp on how they could interact if placed in a room together, then you've got a ship.
Jean and Pieck are honestly very well-written characters. Especially Pieck when you consider how late in the series she was introduced. I'm not ride-or-die for the ship but I totally understand why other people are.
And it's usually the Jeanpiku shippers who totally understand why I'm kinda into Pieck and Connie. Like... even if they're just friends I really want them to just sit down with a bottle of wine and chat because their in-universe circumstances could make for a very interesting conversation.
Plus let me joke that Pieck is collecting dudes with hazel eyes like they're Pokemon cards
Shipping what's canon and shirking what's not canon is absolutely fine! I do that sometimes! But I definitely agree with your point that some people approach characters and ships with such a desperate lack of imagination.
If you can't even envision what it'd be like for say... Mikasa and Historia to bond post-Rumbling because it wasn't explicitly shown to you, then that's kinda sad. The pieces are right there (Mikahisu's sparse in-universe interactions) but you don't wanna finish the puzzle because you're too used to the creator doing it for you.
Back in the day we were shipping everything that moved. I was shipping Marco and Mina, two characters who barely interacted. People were making audioplays of the AoT characters set in space or in the zombie apocalypse or in the world of Pacific Rim. There are so many other things that people can put their energy into yet some people only seem to ever spend time policing others over what ship is "canon." What a shame.
Oh and listen, Jearmin is a ship I hold near and dear to me because re-watching S1, specifically the FT arc, made me realize how organic their chemistry is. Sometimes if Eren and Mikasa are off doing a thing, Armin can usually be found by Jean's side. Even if they're not bonded by a childhood promise to explore the world or a vow of protection, they just get along and respect each other. Jean and Armin are the kind of people I can see often having a beer after work.
If someone watches the convos between Jean and Armin during the FT arc when they're waiting in the trees and they still don't think that Jearmin makes any sense, then I just might start doubting their media literacy skills.
hiiii!! don't mind me, just pulling out a folding chair and setting it up on your lawn after that connie x pieck art you reblogged. please tell me about the hijinks and shenanigans they would get up to!!
also, while i'm here i just wanted to say that i always loved pieck as a character, but the way you've written her in Our Whole Lives are Ahead of Us is my favourite depiction of her in any fic and i just consider it cannon for her now
hope you're doing well bb! <3
HELLO WILDIE!!!!
Don’t mind me busting out a grill and cooking some hot dogs with my crush (he’s very into hot dogs) while I advocate for ConPiku. Bonfire’s in the corner and as any good old American I endorse the irresponsible use of lighter fluid at a bonfire (we hosed the grass around the firepit down so have fun)
Pieck and Connie in OWL are a very special pairing and I like to think that Connie sees a bit of Sasha in Pieck. They’re both very carefree and funny people, where Pieck is funny and smart, and Connie is funny and dumb. I think in an actual romantic relationship it wouldn’t really last super long because Pieck does need someone who can intellectually stimulate her and Connie is much more “look at the surface level of what’s going on, and go from there,” and is maybe a bit too trusting, but I think for a short time, they’d have a ton of fun and even if they did break up, I think they’d still have the emotional maturity to stay friends (because Connie is BY FAR the most emotionally mature of the scouts). I do think their respective abilities to get the big picture mesh well and I also feel like there would be a mutual respect that they’re both incredibly loyal and committed, sometimes even to a fault.
From a purely platonic standpoint, they would ABSOLUTELY do some major prank wars and target Jean and Reiner especially, and I do think in the 2 years they were in Péllon (OWL’s version of Paris) with the other ambassadors before finally going to the island, Connie and Pieck wreaked havoc on everybody. They’re a crack ship AND a brotp for me.
Connie is the type of prankster that would pour shampoo on Reiner’s head while he was showering so he just gets confused as to why his shampoo is just NOT washing out.
Pieck is the type of prankster who would anonymously Halloweenie Armin and Annie’s house just to watch them be slightly inconvenienced by having to clean it all up
Connie and Pieck would be a couple of MENACES if they were together in a room for too long. This is what they would do to Jean’s apartment at a party.
Also ty ty ty SO much for the OWL love 🥰 writing Pieck and fleshing out her character has been really fun and a bit cathartic for myself. I also have a tendency to put my dad on a pedestal (he does a lot of good things for me without question) and feel as though I have to make some sort of mark as a way to show gratitude. It’s a lot of pressure that’s self-imposed, and it’s part of why I find Pieck to be so fascinating. Not only does she want to make a difference in the world for Eldians and prove their usefulness (as well as her own), but she signed her own life away to help her father. It’s a combination of selflessness and extreme selfishness that I like to explore for her sake and my own. Did she have hidden motives behind signing up as well? Or was it entirely altruism that pushed her to do it?
It makes me wonder if there was ever a point where Pieck’s father was apprehensive over her joining the warrior program, especially since he seems to be the only parent of any of the warriors that has a healthy and loving relationship with his child. Even if he has significant issues with his health (his illness is never specified but I generally headcanon a type of early-stage cancer), he seems like he loves Pieck enough to want her to live a full life, and I think that would be an interesting contrast considering that all of the other warrior parents that are more fleshed out end up forcing or manipulating their children into becoming warriors. It makes me wonder if they had a blowout fight when she was given the cart? Or is he gentle enough with her that he just accepted it and did his best to support her while swallowing his own feelings? I love characters that are left vague like this because there’s so many questions you can ask about their motives and their desires, and so many answers you can come up with.
As far as myself, I’m dealing with a lot regarding finances and work and it’s really dragging me down tbh. It’s very difficult to find consistent work in the film industry still and I’m so passionate about it that I have a hard time dealing with the hot and cold nature of it. It’s definitely tough out here trying to focus on the positives when my government is led by such corrupt and incompetent people. I’m trying my best though and that’s honestly all we can do at the end of the day.
Thank you for checking in! And I hope you’re doing well yourself!!! Not sure if I’ve ever said this but I visited Scotland in 2017 and it was unforgettable!!! Edinburgh was by far my favorite city there and it’s the setting of one of my comfort films (Journey to the Center of the Earth [1959]) so it was a blast to see it in person!!!
Every warrior ship to me.
You know, I am surprised conpiku isn't that popular of a ship or even a character dynamic. What do you mean you have Connie "I won't let them get away with it" Springer and Pieck [the one who did it] Finger working together as Ambassadors? There has to be at least some tension between the two.
The entire destruction of Ragako is ripe with so many unexplored ideas.
What did Pieck think of that experience? Did her views on it change after meeting Connie? Does she even know that Connie was from the very village she helped destroy?
What does she even think of Connie as a person? How does she feel about him? How does she feel about what she did to him?
How did this effect Connie's relationship with his mom? Does Connie's mom experience trauma from being a titan for 4 years (similar to how Ymir has nightmares of her time as a titan)? Does she experience survivor's guilt? How does Connie help his mom handle her trauma?
How does Connie even deal with his own trauma of the situation? Does he blame Pieck? How does he feel about her?
Did he know she was involved or did he thought is was all Zeke's doing? What did he think when he heard that she was involved? Did his opinions on her change after meeting her or was he still conflicted?
There is just so much to unpack with this whole situation that not even the manga explored.
Connie, can you fight?!
