For those of you who are always asking me “What is Reiki?”... Reiki is often performed by a Shaman, who is a natural healer. A session typically lasts an hour. You’re in a quiet room, laying on a comfortable bed, with low lighting and calming music playing. For me personally, each experience is different. Sometimes I fall asleep, sometimes I cry, sometimes I am in just a deep meditative state. • A few benefits of Reiki: Reiki will heal you both physically and mentally. It relieves physical & emotional pain, anxiety, insomnia, increases self awareness, provides clarity, calms the mind, nourishes the body and replenishes you to a positive state of mind. It helps you to see yourself in a different light, and therefore be able to help and love others from a deeper, more honest place. • A little of my personal experiences with Reiki: I am an empath. I filter the world through my intuition, and can sense subtle energy and actually absorb it from other people and different environments. I’m highly attuned to other people’s moods, good and bad. And so I energetically internalize the feelings and pain of others, and often have trouble distinguishing someone else’s discomfort from my own. I practice grounding techniques and mind-body healing such as meditation, yoga, massage, and Reiki to reconnect with myself, and clear any negative energy and toxicity from my mind and body. I have been practicing Reiki for over a year now. I try to get in at least one session a month with my Shaman, Melissa.
