Life Lessons Outside My Doors

Having grown up in Vietnam and Southern California, with the past 8+ years in South India, temperature and weather is not something i have to think about. It's usually hot, otherwise, it's raining. In Vietnam and India, we have humidity to contend with but this is a never-ending event. Being in Central Texas for me is like swinging from a chandelier. One day, we have 80*F and the next day, 27*F. Full sun to be followed by snow forecast, and howling rain is the constant transition between rather dramatic shifts. This reminds me of the whims of the universe and the importance of "going with the flow" rather than to fight against forces greater than my own. No amount of suffering or complaining will make the circumstance any better, or me less hot or cold. The only thing that I can do is to look outside of my window, take a step outside of my door, see for myself how the whims of the universe would want me to dress and live. I stay cool when the weather is hot. I stay warm when it's freezing outside. It may not be what I want at any given time but I am always comfortable, happy and thriving. Isn't that the whole point of living?
