This had to be some kind of abuse, but she had no one to blame but herself. The humiliating consequences of letting her guard down and mind wander off as she burrowed herself against the curve of Emma's side. Relax, for once. ( Did the position make her appear extra pinchable?? )
"Gerroffme!" Socked feet pushed against the offending woman, even if doing so caused her to launch herself, head over heels, off the couch. Whether the tumble to the floor stung at all, all that showed on Maelle's face was just the disgruntled glare she sent her adopted sister as her palm rubbed against reddened cheek. It was hard to bite down her smile, but she managed.
"Evil woman, I'm telling the police...." Another grunt as she hoisted herself upright. "Get you booted from office, you'll see."
