REPLIES AND ACTIVITY will be slow, as i work a full - time job and have other blogs / hobbies i enjoy spending time on. i will also be returning to online classes in the fall, so my activity will likely drop dramatically everywhere. my discord is available to mutuals upon request.

AS FOR SHIPPING, i do so with chemistry. i portray alan as a bisexual man. all ships will take place in their own little verse, so please never assume my muse is cheating. do not try forcing a ship with me, as it makes me incredibly uncomfortable and will likely get you blocked. finally, please be aware that i do not consider your muse flirting with alan as forcing a ship.

When Gustave had given him the heads up that his ward, little 16 year old Maelle, wanted to join Expedition 33, a part of him wished he was kidding. But then he remembered that Gustave loved Maelle as if she had been part of his family since birth, and he knew that he wasn't. Then he proceeded to practically scold him for letting her do so. Alan was sure the engineer had his own reservations about Maelle joining the Expedition, but at the end of the day he still didn't stop her.

Recruits were only going to get younger, but that sure as hell didn't mean he had to like it.

Alan had met Maelle a handful of times, watched her interact with Gustave. She wasn't entirely without spunk, much like his own Leona, but was still rather shy. It was almost impossible to suppress a chuckle as she corrected herself. "You don't have to call me that," he assured. "Not right now, at least. "I just wanted to speak with you since, frankly, I don't really approve of you joining the Expedition."

Would a casual murder have been so bad? Verso almost wished he were the type who could actually do something like that. Alas, he just had to hope his evasiveness came off as the nerves of a man unsure whether he was ready to commit his last year of life to a Sisyphean cause. "I was... certainly considering it. Are you part of a future Expedition?" Why else would he be here, stupid?

"I'm part of the Outdome teams." Verso desperately hoped those were still a thing. They had been at least a decade ago. "I don't spend a lot of time in the City. Probably why you haven't seen me around."

It was impossible to say which was more surprising. The fact that he had never seen this man before, or the fact that somebody actually wanted to join the Expedition. Alan had to admit that he wasn't very familiar with the Outdome teams, so it wasn't entirely out of the realm of possibility the stranger had slipped under his radar.

It certainly didn't explain why he was sneaking around, though, and so late. "Makes sense, I suppose." Alan offered his hand to the stranger. If he truly was interested in the Expedition, then introductions were in order. "I'm Alan, commandant of the 33rd Expedition. And you, friend?"

i think what i saw was the gold trim on the gloves, but he dies within the first 30 minutes of the game and is never seen again. free real estate.

although alan's wife gommaged in monolith year 35, he still wears his wedding ring.

Given Lumiere's ever dwindling population, it was incredibly rare to not know someone. Alan might not be familiar with everyone's names, but there wasn't a face in town he hadn't seen at least once. This man, however, was rather distinguishable from most. White streak in his hair, scar over his eye, yet Alan had no memory of him.

With him sneaking around the academy, that in itself was particularly a problem. "Funny," Alan said, folding his arms. "I'm not used to seeing anyone else here this late." Well, except Lune or Gustave. "Sorry, but I don't think I recognize you. Are you a new recruit?"

RANDOM MISCELLANEOUS DIALOGUE (accepting)

The last thing he expected to do when Lune tells a story, something she so rarely did, was spit out his coffee. She had always been so reserved, in control of her emotions. There were many ways that story could have ended, but never would he have guessed the real one.

"That's," a cough interrupts him. "I hope you didn't do it in front of the poor guy."

FIRST MEETING (accepting)

"I have a daughter around your age. I know just about every hiding spot in Lumiere thanks to her."

It was almost hard to believe that there was a time where Leona didn't try getting away from him. Just because he had to familiarize with himself with just about every hiding place there was in the city (and there were so many), it sure as hell didn't mean he knew which one she could have scampered off to.

Suppose he could scratch this one off the list for today. "Maelle, right? You're under Gustave's care now. What are you doing out here?"

The inevitable storming into the office from the chief council - woman that he'd been expecting since speaking with Maelle earlier that day. It was certainly not a conversation he was eager to have, as Alan had known Gustave and Emma for years. He would never describe Emma as "terrifying", but being on the receiving end of her ire was not exactly ideal.

Alan pinched the bridge of his nose. "I wouldn't have tried to talk her out of it if I thought you approved it," he said. Actually, he probably still would have, all the while wondering if both Gustave and Emma had lost their minds.

"You're her guardian as much as Gustave is. You stop her."

Officially, the age requirement for the academy was more of a preference. While children started apprenticeships at the age of six, the academy didn't normally take anyone under the age of seventeen. Even that felt too young.

With that said, the number of people willing to join the Expeditions dropped every year. Alan couldn't really blame people for not wanting to put their lives on the line for a seemingly impossible mission, and while they were at the point where they would take almost anyone if they could hold a sword (or pronounce half of the science mumbo jumbo from Gustave and Lune), it didn't mean he liked seeing it.

Alan stood up from his chair and walked out from behind his desk to better face her. "Maelle," he said, softly. "I know you think you're mature enough to make this decision, but this isn't a field trip you're signing up for. You know as well as everyone else that no Expeditioner has returned to Lumiere, and you still have quite a few years left before you Gommage. Why do you want to risk them?"

alan knows how to braid hair. he used to braid leona's hair before their relationship started getting rocky.

alan was not thrilled with the idea of maelle joining the expedition. he hates the very idea of children doing so, but he also knows that expeditioners are only going to keep getting younger and younger. in the end, he strongly advised against it (and basically chastised gustave for not putting his foot down) but begrudgingly allowed maelle to join.
