I’m seeing comments outside of this circle claiming it’s romanticism of cheating. The truth is, if you’ve never been in a situation where you haven’t faced the moral dilemma of being in love with someone you can’t be with because you’re in a longterm, monogamous relationship already, then lucky you, my friend. It fucking sucks. Hardly anyone who cheats is like “I’m so excited to hurt the person I’m married to!” Trust me.

Exploring this trauma is cathartic—I’ve had to support a loved one who DID the cheating and I know several good people who have also had affairs. I want to explore in a safe way how such a thing happens. I totally understand if it’s your ick, but please don’t judge or claim fetishization of cheating when it’s just simply something you don’t want to read about.

I’m so glad you are all “I’d never cheat!!!” But ffs, hardly anyone who does it feels good about it. Honestly, y’all. It’s not just some horny ungrateful husband who wants to get laid who cheats—it can also be someone supporting their partner for years and years and pouring their soul into a relationship only to get very little back, not realizing their own worth, constantly feeling rejected until another person comes along and makes them feel whole and seen. I’m not saying it’s right but goddamn, you aren’t morally superior by saying you would never cheat because you don’t know until the time comes.

And maybe some of us have seen our parents divorce because of an affair, or maybe some of us have been cheated ON. Be kinder, y’all. Don’t be so fucking judgy.
