@a-weeb-0139 here are some more details on how we store our cosplays once we make them. Not sure how large yours is, but in general, plastic bins are the best way to keep armor safe. Some parts might not fit, but it helps anyway.

Here’s how I ( @tyrantofthefirmament​ )generally pack up Starscream. The wings and engine (which the wings attach to) don’t fit in bins, but when we bring him to cons they are simply carried on top. His helm can be in or out of a bin. I put it in for cons and have it on display when I’m at home, along with his blaster arm.

The bins are only about half full, but we can’t cram the parts in or they’d get damaged. The good news is they aren’t heavy. The bad news is they’re large and take up space in the house. Here’s how they’re packed:

As you can see, many parts nest inside each other, like the thighs, forearms, hands, and under-suit.

Here’s how his head can go in the box. It’s in 2 parts so it works.

KO ( @ask-dr-knockout​ ) and Soundwave ( @tfg1-minibot-lover​ ) both have larger and more fragile helms that we carry in their own boxes for safety. Say hi to Laserbeak! (he also gets to be carried out of a box, although he can fit inside if needed.

Starscream is the most boxable costume we have. KO and Soundwave both have much bigger, wider shoulders, and each of their upper torsos must be stored on a stand to keep them from getting damaged. Here is Soundwave. He’s currently in my living room, but normally he resides in a storage room. His giant arms also get packed separately, since no bin can fit them. They’re sandwiched in some thick foam and wrapped in a towel to keep them safe.

The bins can usually be stacked in a corner or the back of a closet. For a while I had my Starscream ones on the top of a loft bed that’s over my crafting table. I hope this helps give you some ideas, and you’re able to find a home for your Wasp when you’re not wearing him! We’d love to see pics if you have some!

This TFCon was a magical experience for me personally! Along with all of our costume group @consplay-superior! For many of them this was their very first TFCon! And our very first TFCon all together with the debut of our newest Costume Soundwave! What a great time it was!!!

But I have to say the highlight for me was meeting Daran in person finally! We both were so excited by this unique opportunity TFCon presented us. Daran had expressed interest in seeing the KO costune in person and of course, like any fan I wanted to meet him! Haha!

I have to say though, years ago when I first saw TF Prime and fell in love with the character Knockout I could not have imagined It would become a catalyst in introducing me to such a cool guy!

I never would have thought I become friends with such a talented and gracious man as Daran Norris!

But that's just how Daran is too I think, he draws you in with his talent and charm and you realise how truly genuine and gracious he is as just a down to earth good-hearted person.

He brought with him such class and kindness to TFCon this year! He even went as far as handling dinner reservations for our little crew and taking time out of his very busy schedule to see us on multiple occasions.

I witnessed how he interacted and showed his own appreciation to all his fans in the transformers community however small a part of his career it may be. He knows what impact he has and is humble.

I also know for a fact he honored all his commitments to the best of his abilities despite other important personal obligations.

He is a KnockOut all right, a one of a kind KnockOut personality!

Thank you Daran truly for all you do to change lives in positive ways! and especially for the amazing kind role model you are!

Umm... hey so I (being as indecisive as I am) was wondering... if you had an idea... so I can't choose humanformer Soundwave, Shockwave or St3v3... I've been asking my followers and friends but there is a tie... also, how did you add the biolights? I've made costumes before but never wore them out... the old ones don't fit me anymore... and I'm like in middle school so... (;^;)

All of those options sound so good, I can see why you’re having trouble picking! Soundwave could be done in so many styles, and both he and Shockwave have lots of fun lights and accessories you could play with. If you lean toward either of them, maybe spend some time sketching some possible signature or highlight pieces for each character. For example, how might you interpret Soundwave’s visor or Shockwave’s one optic? Do you want to make a gun arm? Thinking about those things might help you decide which character is more fun to start with, or which would have the biggest visual impact. I like the idea of St3v3 as well. Vehicons always need more love, and not many people do humanformers of them.

For biolights, I’m putting a readmore, because I want to cover it thoroughly.

If there’s stuff you already know, you can skim through, but I’ll start from the beginning.

We used EL wire, which you can order online in lots of colors, and you can sometimes find in stores too. If you see it as Halloween decorations, stock up! It’s about half the price it normally is, and it’s exactly the same product.

Here’s some I bought recently in green:

The battery packs are sold separately, and come in various sizes and power levels. This one is tiny because it’s going on a small item, and it only needs one battery.

If you’re adding the biolights to armor, the easiest way to do it is to form a base layer, then glue a layer on top that’s made of multiple pieces, with the EL wire in between, like this:

I made a mockup out of scrap foam:

You can make the design any shape you want, but bear in mind it doesn’t like to do sharp angles. Soundwave has a few spots where we had to get very creative and do multiple pieces.

I just laid my wire in the groove to show it. Normally you would glue it in place, and it would be a tighter fit:

But you can see there are wires sticking out the ends. To hide those, there are a couple ways to do it. In the middle of the panel, like the right end, you can poke a hole:

For an edge, you can wrap it behind and sandwich it with some foam to hold it securely:

Again, I didn’t want to glue my wire, so pretend my finger is some foam holding it in place.

My blaster arm makes extensive use of both of these methods of snaking the wire through the whole piece. On the long barrel it pokes in and out several times, and on the bayonets it wraps around the edge and gets sandwiched in between. 

You can see on this panel that sticks out how it wraps and the loose wires are just covered by foam. The back doesn’t have to be pretty, just strong ;)
