The constitutional oath is about the Church of England as an institution, not the deity behind it
The monarch swears to uphold:

This is about preserving an institution, not proving the existence of a god.
The Church of England exists because Parliament says it exists. Its theology is irrelevant to its legal status.
So the word 'God' is part of the institutional identity and is not a metaphysical claim.
The present coronation oath is not about metaphysics. It is about identity, continuity, and legitimacy.
The word 'God' survives simply because it is part of the story the state tells about itself — a story that functions for them even if the metaphysics behind it are unprovable.
