Is this the same for you? This has been the same thing for me across every fandom I've joined in and I dunno how to balance quality with reblogability

Very true. My rambley text posts often get upward of 70+ notes. I’m glad people enjoy them, I really am- it’s just difficult to cope with when most of my fics on here only get 20-40 notes. They get more attention on ao3, and I certainly don’t want to act like I just want validation, or that numbers reflect my value- they don’t- but unfortunately we live in a world today where attention spans are short and everything is fast paced. Not enough people take the time to slow down, and go read some fics or admire/leave feedback on art. Things like comics or funny drawings seem to get a lot more attention because the person can look at it, get immediate serotonin, and move on.

However, you can’t change the world, and you certainly shouldn’t change yourself to better suit the world. My best advice is to be grateful to those who DO give you the validation and attention you deserve (because you DO deserve it) and not let yourself be so caught up in what the majority thinks of you, because the majority wants things to be fast and convenient. I, for one, much prefer longer works with more heart and soul put into them. Keep doing you!

It happens to the best of us. Yup, even to the awesome creators you’re comparing yourself with. So here’s a reminder that your work doesn't have to resemble the works you love in order to be awesome. Two pieces can be completely different in style, theme, tone, pace, and message, and still be beautiful. The works you love the most do not delimit what is good! And a reminder of the opposite, too: even if what you create has been done before, it has never been done by you. Your work doesn't need to be different or groundbreaking in order to be worthy! Just think about all the fics you’ve read with the same trope, or all the fanart you’ve reblogged of the same ship 😍

You know the feeling when you have a lot of things that you've worked on, but you can't share any of the process because it has to be a secret, and you're so excited to share the thing you've been working on but can't until you finished it/release it on a certain date?

That's what I feel rn because I have 5 sketches going that isn't going to see the light of day until October, and I'm just looking at my content drought and it's like: man.

What about you? Do you have any work in progress (fics) going on that you can't share with anyone lest you spoil it? How're you coping with it?

Uh YES ABSOLUTELY

I have so so so so many WIPs and the desire to just blurt them all out at all times is only overpowered by my excitement to see your guys’ reactions when I actually post them as a coherent story and not just a handful of ideas.

Some of these things tho likely won’t be released for a year or more (because many of these are long multi chapters and writing is slow) and it KILLS ME because I want you guys to read them all NOW

Idk sometimes I’ve done the wip share things? Where I give a short snippet from my story, or given a basic premise of the plot to give my readers a tease and get them anticipating the story, but without actually spoiling anything major…. not sure how well that would apply to art, though.

Ironically, while I strive for engaging content, my recent video has succumbing to the age-old issues of visibility, and, rather embarrassingly, it suffers from poor SEO. Let’s address the elephant in the room: my camera's auto-focus issues. As someone passionate about creating visually appealing content, I was genuinely disheartened by all the distractions caused by my camera while filming. Despite my best efforts to edit around these technical shortcomings, it’s clear that I still have a steep learning curve ahead of me. My camera performs smoothly in live streams, but when it comes to recorded content, it appears I have some work to do! The video delves deep into the nuances of social media dynamics, focusing specifically on YouTube, TikTok, and others. It's fascinating to observe the current trend of long videos on YouTube, a format that seems to enjoy newfound popularity. Still, it begs the question: will this trend endure, especially as YouTube positions itself against TikTok’s dominance in short-form content? The world of content creation is rife with challenges, not the least of which is the risk of burnout. Creators often find themselves navigating a maze of compromises, superstitions, and, let’s be honest, the perplexing world of algospeak. The algorithm has its merits—it’s a double-edged sword that allows our content to be discovered—but I can’t help but feel a sense of frustration at how much time and energy I must devote to appeasing it. While I recognize the algorithm as a necessary tool for visibility, I often wonder: why must it dictate the art of content creation? It can be exhausting to mold my creative process to fit an ambiguous set of rules controlled by ever-shifting parameters. More often than not, I long for the freedom to dedicate my energy to research and crafting quality videos rather than conforming to an algorithm that feels inherently flawed. Yet here I am, having chosen this path as a content creator. In many ways, it feel like I’m the fool in this narrative.
