The Redundancy of Public Theology in a Missional Framework
Sometimes I wonder whether public theology is even a necessary category anymore. If we take seriously that the world, including the Western world, is a mission field, then all theology should already be public. Every act of faith is lived in relation to a watching world. Every church, every believer, stands as a witness within a wider culture. Why, then, do we still feel the need to treat public…
What put the focus on what churches were doing regarding the Women’s World Cup final was probably an article reporting the comments of the Bishop of Derby. It was in this article where she said that church life could in effect work around an event like a football final. However, people’s attention was caught and controversy ensued because the headline initially suggested that she was saying it…
The problem with adapting church to our felt needs is that our felt needs, our desires, can sometimes be precisely what stands in the way of our own transformation. We need to critically examine our felt needs in the light of scripture rather than presuming their sovereignty. Failure to do so often leaves us with syncretised church rather than contextualised church.

After showing our work from the holidays we were told to research into why we were drawing what we were drawing. Was there an reoccurring theme? Was there something that particularly stood out? Is there a reason why I drew what I did and did I feel passionate about that reason?
Initially I found these questions difficult, I drew what I drew because I was given a summer project to draw what I saw in front of me for 42 days and the things I produced were the result of that. Furthermore I felt as if these questions were focussed on someone with a Fine Art mindset, creating art for a purpose, producing something because they felt a passion to do so. I have never looked at drawing in this way. Although I love to doodle, I like to draw for a brief and because someone needs it, whether this be a birthday card for a Grandma or a book cover for a client. However after speaking to my tutors and to my peers I realised that there was connections between what I had been drawing, much of this was related to buildings and objects. This can connect to my passion to work in the film industry, building props and/or designing sets. I realised that this was the reason I was drawing what had and not all the random things and people I had seen throughout my days.

ConTaaS: An Approach to Internet-Scale Contextualisation for Developing Efficient Internet of Things Applications

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a new internet evolution that involves connecting billions of sensors and other devices to the Internet. Such IoT devices or IoT things can communicate directly. They also allow Internet users and applications to access and distil their data, control their functions, and harness the information and functionality provided by multiple IoT devices to offer novel smart services. IoT devices collectively generate massive amounts of data with an incredible velocity. Processing IoT device data and distilling high-value information from them presents an Internet-scale computational challenge. Contextualisation of IoT data can help improve the value of information extracted from IoT. However, existing contextualisation techniques can only handle small datasets from a modest number of IoT devices. In this paper, we propose a general-purpose architecture and related techniques for the contextualisation of IoT data. In particular, we introduce a Contextualisation-as-a-Service (ConTaaS) architecture that incorporates scalability improving techniques, as well as a proof-of-concept implementation of all these that utilises elastic cloud-based infrastructure to achieve near real-time contextualisation of IoT data. Experimental evaluations validating the efficiency of ConTaaS are also provided in this paper.

Last week I laid the foundations for the book of Ruth.
In comparison to other writing in the Old Testament, this book presents an unconventional story of race relations in ancient antiquity.
The story challenged social and cultural norms, and theology in new and radical ways at the time it was written, as it does today.
During the course of my lecture, I discussed Jewish relation with Gentiles…
