Some dumb bitch just used a post quite obviously referring to American politics to talk about how conservative’s are truly the enlightened ones in the UK for having two female Prime Minister’s and how it’s the liberals who criticise her for shit we’d let a man get away with. 

1) Just because she’s a woman doesn’t mean we all automatically are going to fall to our knees and support her. In the same way Margret Thatcher was criticised for her rampage against working class people, so will Theresa May be criticised. 

2) She is a prime minister no one voted for. We as a nation did not vote for her; so maybe open your little myopic eye and get a clue about what it’s like for a nation to be ruled by someone we had no say in and why we maybe opposed to that. Even people who would vote conservative had no real say.

3) No, she is not getting anymore shit than what a man would. She’s an unelected prime minister who has come to Britain in a time of national turmoil after a shoddy referendum and she’s the literal embodiment of right-wing upper class disconnection from the governed party. She’s not listening to anyone. She’s hard on her stance that she’s not going to listen to what half her country wanted, going as far as to back out on promises made about the security of some of the people living here.

The Conservative’s have produced two of the most controversial, most right wing, most snobbish, most unabashed in their hatred of the working class leader’s that we have seen. They are not revolutionary women so they’re not being treated as such. Being women does not automatically make them fantastic PM’s; in fact Thatcher was criticised for having very little women alongside her or promoting women in her government. 

So newsflash, you don’t get to pretend conservative’s are progressive for voting in women who are not progressive. That’d be like Melina Trump getting voted in and you screaming about progressiveness; her husbands still a fucking racist sexual predator, she excuses him not stop and she’s obviously corrupt. 

So you people need to just stop.

It is not free, it is “free at point of use,” meaning that it is funded out of a collective pool of wealth rather than by individuals when they use the service. A good reason for making things free at point of use is that it makes them less stressful, and people can focus on fulfilling their needs and desires rather than on thinking about money. One reason universal free college would be a wonderful thing is that it would let prospective students think about the question “What am I interested in studying?” rather than “What can I afford to study?” Free healthcare lets people’s healthcare decisions be based on their healthcare needs rather than an equation involving both their needs and their bank account. Free public transit means that when you want to get on the subway, all you do is go and get on the subway. We can take out all the turnstiles, forget swiping MetroCards.

Texans, beware Pink Slime Journalism in Texas’ News Deserts

Metric Media has created 56 local news websites across Texas. The company claims to be nonpartisan, but its stories amplify Republican politicians.

"Since January, dozens of identical local news sites have popped up across Texas. In a state where an increasing number of communities don’t have access to local news, this may seem like a blessing. But a study by the Tow Center of Digital Journalism in the Columbia Journalism Review reveals that many of these sites also publish hyperpartisan stories lacking in the transparency that otherwise characterizes reported news.

"Priyanjana Bengani, an author of the Columbia Journalism Review study, says a common tactic in pink slime journalism is to place data-driven journalism at the front while packing in agenda and partisan news at the back.“Numbers give credibility to a site. Putting figures in a headline just looks more believable,” says Bengani. “And then I think they take advantage of that to peddle whatever agenda they want to.

”Texas is particularly vulnerable to an infiltration of agenda-driven media outlets masquerading as local news sites. The state’s media industry has weathered a loss of 194 papers in the past 15 years. Today, about 22 Texas counties lack coverage from a local paper, leaving readers hungry for community news and vulnerable to hyperpartisan stories.
