She didn't hold back in her assessment of scandal-plagued state Attorney General Ken Paxton.
The choice for the Republican candidate for Senate in Tuesday’s runoff is dividing some families in Texas, including a pair whom MS NOW’s Rosa Flores described as the “cutest couple.”
Flores asked conservative voter Michael Stefan and his independent wife, Gayla, about the race between Sen. John Cornyn and state Attorney General Ken Paxton.
“Well, it’s not a great choice, either one, really, but I think I lean towards Paxton, for sure. He’s local,” Michael Stefan said. “Cornyn hasn’t always been with the Republicans the way I would like, but it was a tough choice. But I did vote for Paxton on the runoff.”
Gayla Stefan was much more blunt in her assessment of Paxton, who was impeached by the Texas House of Representatives ― but ultimately acquitted ― after a series of scandals.
“Crook,” she said flatly. “Yeah, that’s it. Period. He’s just a crook.”
"Not what we want to hear right now," KSAT's Stephania Jimenez said.
President Donald Trump has endorsed Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, supercharging his effort to oust incumbent Sen. John Cornyn in a Repu
There's no doubt that Ken Paxton is one of Texas' biggest pieces of shit. (In a state where that competition is HIGH.)
So why does it make me Grinch smile to get this news?
Well because Paxton is ALSO predicted to have a harder uphill climb in defeating James Talarico in November for the actual senate seat. If you wanted a Dem to have a higher chance to win, this was the right piece of shit to endorse.
I'm far too smart and old to have ANY naive hope that a statewide Texas election would actually go to a Dem, buttttttt I'd love to be wrong and 47 may be helping us get a little closer to that magical goal.
We'll see!
« The (Texas) primary also shows us that this is unlike political parties in the past — political parties in the past, where you had an unpopular president, which is the key to how things are going to go in a midterm. The president would understand that his party needed to put some distance, needed to show some independence from him in order to hold on to their seats in a rough year. Not in this party. In this party, Trump has managed to spray his musk over every single candidate, so that they cannot escape it. »

I can imagine a new MAGA scent being marketed as Musk of Trump. All Republican candidates get complimentary 2-liter bottles of it.
Trump is not interested in electing Republicans. He's only interested in controlling the ones who remain after a likely GOP catastrophe in November.
