I think that your living space should be taken up by things proportionate to what you use them for. When I moved into my place, I had a second bedroom that I thought would be a study/guest bedroom but was struggling to fit both a desk and a bed. Then I realised that I’d be using the room as a study 364 days of the year, and as a guest room one day a year. As a result, there is no guest bed and I have a spacious study. If someone comes over, they get a blow up mattress in the study or the sofa. I also had to fit in a lounge set and dining table into the same space. As I usually eat in front of the TV and have guests over for food maybe once every two weeks, my dining table is tiny and my sofa is huge and comfy. When guests do come over for dinner, I can move things out of the way/put up a fold up table/add stools. But 85% of the time I’m enjoying my large sofa. You know best what you’d actually use your space for - I would consider arranging it proportionate to the most common use/s.
this all makes absolute sense! i think i am lending too much weight to my tendency to acquiesce to the needs of others over my own, and maybe doing this is a huge step towards prioritizing myself for a change. hopefully i can do it this time!! thank you so much 💛
