My take on Cocoa Scrambled Eggs
So it's the middle of the night and I'm hungry. Anyway...
1 sliced green onion and 3 chopped garlic cloves in a pan with some butter, cooked on low-medium until fragrant.
2 eggs, a splash of milk, and a dash of soy sauce whisked together and poured over the above with a tiny pinch of sugar. Turn the heat up a touch and cook until, well, cooked.
Taste test a handful of mini chocolate chips. Having ascertained that they taste delicious, take the pan off of the heat and mix a handful in.
Plate it.
Have flashbacks to cleaning the contents of your dog's stomach off of the floor.
Eat it.
Do it.
I dare you.
Come on, you can do it!
It's not bad actually, but you could probably add another garlic clove and green onion.
Note: while the game calls for cocoa nibs, 1) I don't think those melt to the degree that the picture shows?, and 2) I don't have them. I think "cocoa nibs" is meant to be mini dark chocolate chips in this case. I had bittersweet.
I would eat it again, but preferably blindfolded.
Ano ba itsura ng Ubeee. 'Di ko alam kung Ube or Kamote ba 'tong nabili ko, sabi naman ng tindera Ube daw pero it looks sus 😭
Martin: the amount of times I could've been hurt with knives is kind of surprising really
Jon (concerned): oh heavens, martin, when was this? Who's been threatening you with knives?
Martin (deadpan): haha...yeah...threatening (he's been trying to learn how to cook but so far has only achieved launching a knife at himself from a countertop and miraculously coming out unscathed)
cooking shenanigans #2 Miso Soup
This time it was miso soups turn, which turned out better than expected. I had to improvise with some of the ingredients, so it's not 100% authentic but I never stick completely to a recipe anyway so it didn't matter as much.
It turned out much better than expected. I used tofu, seaweed and some salmon, skipped the dashi powder and maybe overdid it just a bit with the miso paste but overall this has definitely become one of my favourite soups. It took only around 20 minutes to cook including the prep, which is perfect as I can just leave it to simmer while I do the washing up. I've been practicing this recipe for a while now, and I think this is as good as it gets.
Throwing in some rice and chopped spring onions makes it a perfect meal for a cold morning, it's soup which automatically makes it a favorite (soup fan) and the rice is a good but light carb base that keeps me going until lunch time.
I have a whole list of recipes and foods that I tried in China and now want to recreate as I didn't really have the chance to cook while in China, because it just wasn't convenient cooking in the public kitchen in a building with around 500 people.
Besides, the dorm had more than enough shenanigans going on so adding cooking to the mix would have been too much.
Naked Noods
Me: *getting some mac & cheese ready to go in the oven
Noodles: *dumped in pan
Oven: *is preheating
Shredded cheese: *sprinkled on top but missed a few noodles
Me: Oh whoops! Better cover these exposed noodles so they don't burn
Absolutely no one: ...
Cat: *stares at me
Me: Ha. Exposed noods. NAKED NOODS! Cover the poor naked noods!
Headcanon:
Hunk can teach Shiro and Jiro the basics of cooking with pots and decent knife skills. However, anything needing a pan? Hahaha NO. Shit either gets undercooked (Jiro) or burned (Shiro).
(And Burned Foods can be triggering for both of them.)
If Hunk needs someone to work the frying pan and Lance isn’t available, he’ll grab Keith or Ryou. (Ryou somehow is less distractable when cooking than his brothers—and had more experience with cooking with his grampa and mom since he didn’t have Taka’s “coordination issues spells”; while Keith admittedly fried or roasted most of his food while going through his Feral Desert Child phase, both out of necessity (the Shack’s power got turned off while Ryou was in the worst of his depressive grief, so Keith stuck with building cooking fires until Ryou recovered enough to resume working again), and...well. Keith just likes fire.)
Hunk doesn’t bother asking Pidge, Allura, or Coran for help—he’s lucky if he can get Pidge to even help set up or clean up, or worse, eating half his prepped ingredients raw—while Allura is outright terrified of the kitchen and gets blustered to cover it (in her defense, she was otherwise busy as a child and teen, so her foundation is even worse than Shiro’s and Jiro’s). And Hunk doesn’t even trust Coran in the kitchen—sure he has enviable skills but his palette leaves much to be desired by any Standard, and outright refuses to follow Hunk’s recipes in favor of “improvising”.
So... My OC really likes cooking or baking. Buuut.... She litirally burns everything by accident.
She tries, but she can't help but burn everything :')
She can make a decent sandwich though. Maybe a pasta too, if she's lucky and in a good mood.
