Simple Tips to Improve Your Digital Security

We live in the bad timeline so @cthulucactus​ and I compiled a list of easy tips for the average person to improve your digital security. These are all pretty easy tips that literally anyone can do without compromising your online experience.

Use a password manager and randomly generated passwords. Trust me on this one. It prevents hacking and you only have to make one strong password. Bitwarden is an open source password manager. There are several others that you can also check out.

In the same vein, add 2 factor authentication to your accounts, especially to websites with sensitive information (banking, etc.)

keep your software up to date. As shown by the recent log4shell exploit, a lot of updates contain crucial security fixes, so keeping up with them is very important.

using Firefox is never bad. The standard security settings are pretty good but if you really want to go above and beyond, here’s a tutorial on how to further privacy without sacrificing performance.

be careful with the personal information you post online. I shouldn’t have to say this on tumblr but really be careful about what you post.

I know that sometimes it can be really intimating at times but trust me when I say 2FA and randomly generated passwords is a game changer. It doesn’t have to be hard to seriously upgrade your security and it is worth it.

Go to matthewbilyeuDOTcom/tumblr-top and enter the tumblr address of your favorite writers and ALL original posts will load (Baroness - you have so many fics/Asks, etc, I actually had to stop because of data usage! ha). Wait for all to load, and then Select All, Copy into a Word document/Google Doc, and paste Match all Formatting, which might

3/3: unless they also post it independently of the reblog, it won’t be captured. (You can also go to someone’s archive and just scroll through the entire thing, which can also take a while depending on how many years, select/copy/paste, etc, but doing that does NOT copy over pictures, or specifics or names of reblogs or all of the content - but you’d have all the links, and it does capture ALL tags, which are often stories in and of themselves! The Time Ball

The red time ball on top of Flamsteed House is one of the world's first visual time signals. It was installed in 1833 (though the present one dates to 1919) to enable navigators on ships in the Thames to check their marine chronometers.

The Time Ball drops daily at 1300hrs (GMT in winter, BST in summer). It is raised halfway up the mast at 1255hrs as a preparatory signal and to the top 2 minutes before it drops.

Ok so no one told me that Harvard Medicine and the Government of India were working on an open-source COVID vaccine?

They’re close to launch a phase 3 trial and the vaccine would be more low-cost than the currently circulating ones (to my understanding).
