Also randomly This LP Is Fuckin Great!
It’s super comprehensive about stuff you can miss, and glitches and complex junction stats and all sorts of everything!
and its so damn rare to find an LP that actually shows npc dialogue?? this one has archive posts of LITERALLY EVERY NPC and how SOME OF THEM CHANGE IF YOU REVISIT THE AREA LATER and how SOME ARE RANDOMLY MISSING FROM AREAS BASED ON INTERNAL VALUES DESIGNED TO SIMULATE MORE REALISTIC CROWDS. I had no clue about any of this! I’ve played the game many times and still missed SO MANY of these npcs! And some of them actually do a great job foreshadowing stuff that the main plot failed at, i feel like my opinion of the game would have been higher if these were mandatory scenes in the plot!
“So, this is the "romantic dream" Seifer mentioned during the SeeD exam. But, you may remember this from way back before the Fire Cavern:
Seifer probably saw this movie as a kid and has the sorceress's knight as a heroic figure in his memory, sort of like a kid who wants to be Superman. This is probably why she was able to get him to join her so easily, and it's a little bit of Seifer's character that's very easy to miss (that shot is from a semi-random conversation that you don't initiate). It's also interesting to look at Seifer, who has the "heroic" role of the knight in contrast with Squall, the mercenary, which is typically a more "villainous" role. It's a neat little reversal of traditional roles.”
like what the fuck yo
i had no clue the ‘sorceress movie’ was mentioned so much earlier and had like.. any relevance to anything in the plot whatsoever aside from being a film Laguna played a stunt double in, in a funny sidequest.
also no fuckin clue that Seifer’s concept of a knight was actually a subversion instead of just a traditional fairytale one! like he was legit falling in love with a sympathetic villain in an old 50s-era-equivelant romance story. he already didn’t believe that sorceresses were evil, and thats why ultimecia was able to prey on him. she played herself as a fake underdog with a touch of wish fullfillment fairytale nonsense, and he fell right into her hands! And thats actually pretty deep and sad cos we find out that sorceresses really ARENT inherantly evil, and this is just one really fuckin cosmically evil bastard from the end of time who possesses them and does her same stupid trash plot over and over again, ruining their historical reputation. so seifer just got the stupid fuckin luck of running into Dat One Fucko, when he was actually right all along!
‘all magic lady bad’ is a misconcecption. sorceress georg, who lives in a cave and separates squall from 10000 family members, is an outlier and should not be counted.
