“It’s midnight, what do you want?”
»I uh just-« Coop mumbled, a stray cookie crumb or twofalling out of his mouth. Maybe he should've eased up on the weed. Then again,he didn't exactly feel like going back to dreams of his dad pushing him on theswing. Wherever the hell those came from, he had no clue. »Well I've got cookies to spare, it's a clearnight. You haven't read my palm in a while.« He shrugged, feigningindifference. »Or we can just walk around the parking lot a bit. Whatever you'dprefer.«
“It’s not a double date, we’re just third and forth wheeling.” (highschool)
»You're the one that got me into this crap, Dev.« Hegrinned, pointing at the horoscope section of Jamie's Seventeen mag. »Potentiallove on the horizon. Expect a date in the near future.« He recited the sentenceprinted down in pale blue letters. »Or are you gonna flip your principles justbecause we’re going with Grey and Carmen?«
“You’re so cute when you pout like that!”
He's been gliding over the same damn sentence for thefiftieth time, trying to retain focus. Maybe he's just read the book too manytimes already? It definitely had nothing to do with the fact that Joel andJamie were huddled up in the seat two spots away from him. Or that Ezra's beensending googly eyes his way for the past five minutes, obviously desperate toescape this tin box on wheels as well. His eyes flickered upwards at the soundof Dev's voice. »Hmm?« He raised his eyebrows with a light chuckle as her wordsregistered in his brain. »Oh, yeah? These lips?« Extending a finger he tappedon them lightly. »They're just getting their beauty sleep. Still got nothing onyours there, Dev.«
