Sugar - Clownmaster (Copper Blue, 1992)
Sugar - Copper Blue (1992)
On this day—September 4th, 1992—Copper Blue, the debut album by Sugar, was released. After punk power trio Hüsker Dü disbanded in 1987 and releasing two solo albums in 1989 and 1991, Bob Mould returned to a hard edged sound with another power trio, Sugar. The band’s debut, released a year after Nirvana’s Nevermind, found a more receptive audience to a harder sound and rode the wave of popularity for grunge. Critically acclaimed on its release, the album is now cited as one of the best albums of the decade.
