Akagane mon, czyli miedziana brama zamku Odawarskiego Akagane mon, the copper gate of the Odawara Castle 小田原城の銅門、内部公開してたので初めて上がってみた。丸太の手斧仕上げが美しい。インスタスポットになってるお侍さんのマネキンと写真撮ってる人はいませんでした。
Some Assembly Required: A few shots post-soldering. The copper panel was fitted into the wooden frame, with a little coaxing by bar clamps and rubber mallet taps. There's a shot of the (almost) finished panel along side the sketch for the companion panel, and my favorite detail; the copper saddles for the spiral. I have some final soldering, then repussé details to add and insetting the slate or stone. That part will likely happen on-site, after the gates are hung.
Next up; panel two!
87 pieces of pipe, cut and fitted. Next step, check fit with wooden frame, and punt to my partner Alton for drilling out the wooden frame. The gate is reinforced in three places horizontally with 1/2" steel rods to add stability and security.
