I personally don’t believe fiction writers should use ghosts. Celebrity auto-biographies and such, that’s the job. If a fiction writer uses a ghost to help flesh out a book, or hires a book doctor to whip a book into shape, I strongly believe that person should be acknowledged–on the book.

Until earlier this week, Cristiane Serruya seemed like a potentially budding romance author. However, in a tumultuous 24 hours, it all came crashing down.
“In short, for authors like Serruya, publishing has become a quantity game rather than a quality one and they are going to great lengths to make it happen. It’s highly unlikely that Serruya is the only author, likely not even the only romance author, doing exactly this or even doing worse.“
I find this fascinating.
Watching the #copypastecris debacle play out in romancelandia is exhausting.

How can anyone ever hope to compete against crap like that? And I ended up googling passages out of my fics because if well-known authors can be plagiarized like that, it made me acutely aware how vulnerable I am as a fic writer with no legal way to fight if someone wholesale took one of my stories? (I’ve heard of this happening).
Maybe I should just live under the couch.
