The elaborate costume balls of the postwar period, where people revelled in newfound joy, gave Christian Dior the inspiration and opportunity to create sumptuous gowns. These fantasies, whether extravagant or coquettishly restrained, combine ingenious draping with intricate embroidery and lavish ornamentation with luxurious materials. @dior loved ball gowns because, as he once said, “The evening is the time when you escape from the realities of life.”  

Balls of the period typically had an imaginative theme. For example, the artist Christian Bérard organized the “Panache Ball,” under the auspices of Lady Diana Cooper, Ambassador of England, for the benefit of The Marie-Thérese dispensary in Malakoff, where the most elegant heads in the world were decorated with every type of feather, including birds of paradise, ostrich, osprey. The “Ball of the Birds” followed, where gorgeously plumed masks lent an air of mystery to a pretty face. The Enchanted Garden ball gallery features “masks of mystery” by Dior milliner Stephen Jones (@stephenjonesmillinery).

Shunsou arrives feeling tense. Not only does he not recognize where he is, but he also doesn’t know what’s going on at all. Where is he? More over—the more he looked around, the more he saw unfamiliar machinery and technology—when is he? He stood in the middle of nowhere for what almost felt like forever as he stood recollecting his thoughts. This is a dream right? This is a huge joke, right? This has got to b—

At the corner of his eye, he catches glances with what seems to be a tall, slender woman with golden hair in curls. Her blue eyes were inquisitive, as she eyed him down with evident curiosity.

Shunsou slightly turns his head her direction, his eyes returning her stares with only half of that.

This woman, her appearance reminded him too much of a certain doctor who employs him. A shiver of fear masked by the calm mask of indifference, it seems that no matter where he is, she would be at the edges of his mind.

a chuckle barely makes its way out of the back of lanque’s throat. he didn’t even realize he was getting so close, looking down at catherine with hot body language that contradicted his ice cold words. a hand on her hip, and another twirling a strand of hair in his hand while he drunkenly made some kind of threat to drink from her neck. hate doesn’t always have to be something vicious.

   It isn’t the first time someone’s done this for him (and other times he’s done it himself, too), but it feels like it’s been a while. He has to reduce his towering height by sitting or bending down so that Catherine can apply the flower, trusting she’ll make it look nice. Once it’s done, he straightens up with a small smile and a dusting of pink across his cheeks.

“Ah, thank you. The color stands out on Gonta, doesn’t it?”

🏬 Our muses go costume shopping!

october / halloween starters

   He feels—and probably looks—like a child in a candy store, since he’s never visited a Halloween-themed shop before. The costume selection is so plentiful (well, minus what previous shoppers have already nabbed) that he doesn’t know where to begin, not to mention that he’d entered without much of an idea of what he was looking for. Maybe he wasn’t looking for anything in particular at all, but now he’s having fun browsing.

Some options seem either too small or too embarrassing for him to consider, so he can at least narrow it down to things that are more … him. 

“Hm… Oh!” Gonta plucks something off of a shelf and looks at it for a moment, before putting it on his head. It appears to be a headband with two antennae-like protrusions on top. “How’s this? Do they look like antennae?” he asks, well aware that it’s silly.
