Sometimes it feels like we have a “core self”, but it’s not it’s own alter. Honestly the best way I can explain it is our SOUL, it feels a lot like we imagine SOULs in undertale are like. “the very culmination of your being!” Seems like a very accurate description of it. It’s like a pool of information and experiences from our life that we all draw from, a foundation that all of our identities are built from. It’s where we came from, and we are constantly taking from it and adding to it.

We’ve always felt like we kind of have a collective soul, and individual souls at the same time. Our individual souls are all linked to the collective soul. Like mushrooms and mycelium maybe.

Our collective SOUL is made of kindness and justice, we’ve always known that even before we knew we were plural. But that doesn’t mean that all of us individually have those traits. It’s just always there in the background, and we often gravitate towards it without even noticing.

We think about souls and consciousness and reality, and a lot of other existential stuff like that a lot. Too much probably. Adapting our understanding of who and what we are to plurality has been very complicated and confusing. I think it would be interesting to hear what other system’s thoughts about these things are, if anyone relates to having a similar kind of “core self” or collective soul?

Do you have any technique on how to connect with our higher self? Something like certain steps to follow during a meditation or a certain thought to focus on ?

Once you discover the identity of your higher self (which usually takes several years of meditation and strengthening your astral abilities), you will have to begin meditating on your higher self. This is done by gently focusing on the centre of your body, right beneath your ribcage. This is where your higher self dwells. 

Meditate on this area every day for at least 20 minutes, imagining a golden light emanating from it. As you progress through this, you will begin feeling an expanding sensation there, which is normal and means your core (higher self) is bonding with you. You will also have to speak with them every now and then in order to build more of a connection and receive advice from them. Overtime, not only will you gradually discover who you truly are, but your spiritual abilities will also begin strengthening (you may also even discover new abilities that are connected to your higher self).

The sense of a 'core self' (the self as opposed to the other and the self with the other) constitutes the experience of self and other as 'entities' with 'a physical presence, action, affect, and continuity.' The sense of core self depends on 'numerous interpersonal capacities'. This is still not a cognitive construction (for it occurs outside consciousness) but rather an integration of experience and a 'memory without words' which provide the bases for all the more complex senses of self. Although of course Lazzarato himself uses Judith Butler to reflect on this later in this book.
