Day 3- Your Parents

Since I saw this heartbreaking video I decided to write this.

Letter #1:

Dear Mommy,

Sometimes you give us one too many hugs, or yell a lot more than you usually do during that "special time" but at the end of the day you never fail to tell us good night, give us that daily hug and remind me and my brother that you love us. You understand me and my stupid teenage woes, and you always take the time to listen to me talk or rant. You're like a best friend who guides me and mentors me. You've let me learn about life on my own and you've taught me so much. I'd never ask for anyone else, and the devotion and love you have for us and your family is amazing. I guess I can't really articulate my thoughts out right now, but what I'm trying to get at is-

On days where you feel like you go unappreciated or your hugs and proclamations of love are unreciprocated, I hope somewhere in your heart you know that we all love and appreciate you so much. More than I can put into words. You're the best mother I could ever have or ask for, and I love you so much. I can picture as you read this, I'd imagine you'd be saying things like-

"What's a proclamation?"

"What does unreciprocated mean?"

"AWWWWW MY DAUGHTER IS SO SWEET!"

"Now go sort out your underwear" :)

Letter #2:

Dear Daddy,

OKAY I won't lie I put off this letter for later but I kept thinking about that video so I finally buckled down and wrote it. Truth is we don't always see eye to eye and sometimes I just don't understand you. Once I even hated you. But that was a long time ago, and I hate myself for ever thinking that way. As mommy forced us to go on family trips and bond and stuff together, I came to understand why you were that way. I was too stubborn to understand the love that you hid behind your actions, the love that you are too stubborn to openly say. You do care about us, even if its a way that we won't understand. I hate the days you think no one is listening to you or cares about you in this family because we do. I'm sorry I never say it though, but I do.

Sometimes I think people forget to give recognition and appreciate their fathers, and I think we should take a moment to. Maybe they don't act in an openly loving way but I'd like to think at the end of the day, they love you.

I don't even remember the last time I said this to you but-

I love you daddy. Thank you for everything that you've done. I love you so much. I could never ask for a better father.
