Tʜᴇ Wᴀʀ Fᴏʀ Iɴᴛᴇʀɴᴀʟ Pᴇᴀᴄᴇ: How the corona lockdown is teaching us new ways to create intimacy In one of his now-famous free online guitar lessons, Brian May meditated over the war that landed on our collective laps. He mentioned his ancestors fighting for peace in the First and the Second World Wars and introduced his lessons as his way to fight this particular war. I felt deeply touched by his words and shared the sentiment, yet I couldn't help but wonder: 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿? More importantly, 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁? My sense is that we are fighting against our identity, our attachment to safety coming from an external source, our tendency to form quarrelling tribes (boomers, Gen X, millennials, Gen Z amongst the most identifiable) and our inability to coexist in deep intimacy settings. A few days ago, I wrote an article elsewhere about how I felt I had been preparing for this lockdown for years. Not only the past years revealed the deeply introverted woman (hidden under a rather masculine and extroverted persona) now perfectly adapted to live in a state of quarentine, the process of revelation involved being in deep intimacy and connection settings for extended periods of time. There was even a period where I lived with the same group of people I worked with every day!!! This deep internal exploration I went through is now being replicated in a multitude of households in the western world.
