Injuries... and More Injuries
This past Wednesday you could say I posted a pro-Darnell article and it's funny that a day or so after, he finds himself on the disabled list.
Every team deals with injuries, yet throughout the entire organization, the number of players out along with the number of setbacks there have been are a bit of a concern.
I am currently unaware of the current shape of the Padres training and conditioning staff and a few years ago they certainly had a very good reputation, but when a person like Casey Kelly has yet to pitch since April 11 for precautionary reasons, Cory Luebke who has not made up his mind about Tommy John surgery, Joe Wieland having a setback a few days ago, and Tim Stauffer, who after rehabbing and making just one start found himself back on the disabled list, then you have to wonder what's going on with all these players.
Perhaps this is just bad luck for the Padres and possibly it couldn't be happening at a better time in what is most likely going to be a race for the first pick in 2013, but it would be nice if the team could catch some breaks.
Update:
- Cory Luebke said exam showed partial tear of elbow ligament. Deciding between having surgery or pitching with it.
