We will never forget you, Descendants
Dear Descendants, I can’t believe how fast the past four years have gone by. This franchise, these characters have impacted me so much. They’ve impacted so, so many more. This makes it incredibly hard to say goodbye to you all. But this isn’t goodbye.
For me personally, when I watched the first movie, I liked it. I thought the universe was interesting and though I didn’t *love* it, I thought “I’ll see where this goes. This looks like it’ll be good.” Boy was I wrong. It wasn’t just good. It was AMAZING. When Descendants 2 came out, I revisited the series. I was hooked (no pun intended, though I love our off-kilter slightly misunderstood pirate boi). As soon as Uma came on the screen, I knew that I’d stick with this franchise. She just… resonated with me, differently than Mal or Evie. She’s so charismatic and China, like Cam, has a energy that just radiates trough Uma. Her Anti-Hero arc in descendants 3,just her leadership and determination in general… and she’s not afraid to speak her mind! Sassy, but her care and loyalty for her crew and the kids on the isle runs so deep. Not to mention that seeing someone who looked more like me rather than light light skinned actresses (though I have nothing against Dove and Sofia, you go girls) was comforting. Uma will always have a special place in my heart. I will never forget this sea goddess. ❤️🌊🐚🐙
Not to mention the adorable ball of sunshine that is Gil, and our one and only Harry Hook (I’m a Huma stan first, human being second- those two swashbucklers belong together).
Like I said before, this isn’t a goodbye. We can continue to show our love for this series through art, writing, music. Through sharing theories and little moments we may have not noticed the first time or the hundredth we watched the movies. Through supporting the cast in their further endeavors, and never forgetting about our VKs no matter how much time passes. By donating to and raising awareness of the Cameron Boyce Foundation. Because whatever characters we think belong together, whoever we identify most with in the story, nobody disliked Carlos. Cam had this energy, an energy that radiated in Carlos. The positive, technical, sweet Carlos we will never forget. That was his last movie, guys. So by honoring Carlos, we honor him. Cameron. And I know he’d be so, so proud.
