Plot twist! Was in the parade!
I know in my last post that I’d said I wouldn’t march in the Chinatown Seafair Parade as a cosplay representative for SakuraCon (since several times before it was too hot & disorganized to be much fun and I'd skipped last year). But, thanks to a friend who reminded me that BEING the fun element at an event was worth showing up (a.k.a. keeping a positive attitude & such), I decided to do it... and so darn glad I did! The good parts: Besides having a member of SakuraCon staff (wearing one of their cool mascot shirts) lead the group (previous years there was a random person not in “uniform” to show they’re in charge or else didn’t do anything to keep folks orderly & it got chaotic), the group had a new waiting point before the parade start... IN THE SHADE. Such a huge blessing to not be standing over an hour in the summer heat, often wearing hot cosplays (some people don’t realize they’ll get cooked in them). Then later on at the end of the parade route, after posing for group photos at this one park we usually stop at, some friends were being goofballs & having fun with the playground equipment (most hilarious bit: when my friend dressed as Tingle decided to battle with a Deku cosplayer and eventually “lost” - posing with Deku stepping on him while he was sprawled on the grass).
What a blast! And to make the night even better, my friend Casey treated me to bubble tea (banana-macha... sooo good) after everyone else had left. Am def glad that I attended, and also had fun doing a special version of Chopper as my cosplay of choice for the event (what I call ”Ninja Lover” Chopper, shown below in a photo of me & Casey chatting; my shirt says "Red-Shadow Seal", with a little seal dressed as a ninja [honestly, though, it looks more like a ninja ‘jelly bean’ to me more than a seal...LOL]).
