MORE! TKB Cosplay Progress - Temporary 'Wounded' Top Part 1

PREFACE: This is going to be in 2 Parts because progress has been slow. ;v; Be sure to follow for more TKB Cosplay updates! :> So after I did the robe chain I somewhat started on the next part which is the temporary top I will be wearing for my TKB Cosplays until I have top surgery. This part was done over several days as the application glue took 72 hours to set.

I bought about a yard of this breathable white fabric as I did not want to attach stuff to my binder as this top is a temporary thing. I also wanted to make things simple and bought a fabric glue to adhere most of the gauze onto.

This was not an easy feat as I do not currently have a long table and had to resort to using my kitchen counter and put down some garbage bags to not ruin my counter as the fabric is super thin and the glue would likely seep through.

The result was not a really good cut on the material I intended to apply the gauze to. But thankfully I cut more than I would need and intend to fold in the bad parts.

Next came a test. Originally I was going to fold the gauze over but because I have this white backing I'll only really need the single layer to give the illusion that the gauze is thick as seen in this overlay test.

This glue is super thick and not easy to spread and I had no way to make the cloth taut so after the first application I just started doing it in globs and adhered the gauze to that glob.

The finished product looks good and I will not be using the full length/width of this for the top. Will be cutting down/resizing.

I have however run into a problem as the glue set... the parts where I slapped the globs are shiny and hard. I also need to reinforce the edges of each gauze strip to ensure they don't flop over so I will be going back and reinforcing them with clear thread to ensure they remain upright like I'm healing from a wound.

For Part 2 I will hopefully have the thing threaded then start cutting it down to size, putting on an elastic cord and adding on velcro to make it better fitting if required. Also will see if I need to add support straps for the shoulders.

OOC: Well I did it. I got the entire cosplay for Eito for just under €75 about under $86 (granted the jacket is much puffier and something I got at a local store) not including the wig. The jacket and trousers aren't the exact same shade but it is what it is.

I may have made a mistake starting on my temporary TKB cosplay top right now... but.. It needs to be done to be ready for con/festivals. I hope my ventilation is ok. ૮◞ ‸ ◟ ა Any touch ups I will be doing with thread and needle. Post by @ravij

TKB Cosplay Update! - Neck Chain!

A post by @ravij It's been a bit since I've made any progress on this cosplay but now that Gremlin is a bit older and more settled in I decided to start tackling things. ◉‿◉ While the rest of Amurica was celebrating I was busy toiling away on TKB's neck chain that iirc was given to him by fans through fanart. I think he had one in the Manga? But I do not remember one in the Anime. Ya'll remember this post from end of May in which I tested sequences. Well I decided to go with the red discs. I started with setting up and measuring about 45 in (1.14 meters) length of cord. The idea is for a 37-38 in (0.93-.096 meters) chain but I'd need the extra length to tie it off. I clipped it off with a cloth clip so beads wouldn't go everywhere because I need both ends not knotted in order to tie it off.

So here's the bare bones mock up that I filled to nearly the ends. I will not be using all these but I will be painting them all. Total 28 olive beads, 28 sphere beads and 57 red discs.

Now that I have my beads and set up (I have tons of beads left over to potentially make 2-3 more chains) It was time to color with a gold acrylic paint marker. I had two brands to choose from but the DecoColor just popped more for me as seen in this previous test post, The DecoColor is just a bit more reflective and the sheen is sharper compared to UMark Metallic Gold. ദ്ദി ˉ꒳ˉ )

So I wore protective black gloves but I ran into the problem of smudging the paint while I turned it. Thankfully I'm a model kit builder/enthusiast who rattle cans sprues and plastic so I decided to reverse the purpose of my alligator clips. (The black bendy ones ended up being a pain in the ass so I went and grabbed the wooden stick ones from a long since dried project for doing the spheres.)

I waited about an hour then harvested the nuggets. Beautiful! (ㅅ´ ˘ `)

After all was said and done, we went from the left, to the right! Shiny and gold! ✦ω✦ Perfect for stealing!

Now it was time to rethread them and viola!

I went with a cross thread through the two end beads to create a seamless sequence and tied about 3-4 knots to ensure it would hold while also hiding the knot in the bead. I did indeed remove about 3 rice beads, 3 sphere beads, and 6 red discs.

And we're stylin! I'm going to try to find a way to make the chain lay a lil more spread like on the hanger without the use of pins as I want to be able to take off the robe (and it'd be a hassle to remove the pins every time) and lift the hood (which would reveal the pins). I'm thinking small snare hooks sewn into the robe and painted red to hide them. (╭ರ_•́) (Also please pardon the hair. I had to throw on clothes for this pic and really haven't fully gotten ready for the day :v)

Side Note: I overestimated just how much paint was in each marker and I have a huge stockpile of UMark and DecoColor Gold Acrylic paint pens now of various sizes. :> Will likely use them on the Millennium items.

Gonna post my pictures of the TADC cosplay stuff I'm working on for Ep 9, it'll just probably be after I go see it cause I'm gonna be really busy until then. But there will be in-progress pictures!

BIG UPDATE!!! The skirt is like 2 steps from being done!!!!

All that's left is making the top for it and it'll be done!!!!!

IMPORTANT UPDATE ABOUT THE COSPLAYS FOR 2027 AND THE CHARACTERS REMOVED AND REPLACED

Hello everyone, it has come to my attention that Harumasa from Zenless Zone Zero WILL NOT be scrapped after all because the downsized version of his bow is currently in production, the first version of the prop was too big and it cannot be taken to the convention. So the small version is more lightweight and more safe to take it without any problems. I was going to replace him for Makoto Yuki, but I refuse to do that, as I will save it as a future character.

As for Durin, the problem is that the clothes have synthetic leather and it will happen with the same incident with Boothill, with his pants and it peeled off because of the humidity, and the mildew grew on there. The top pleather jacket survived too. Durin’s boots could cost expensive too so I decided not to be as him but THIS DOES NOT MEAN THAT THE GENSHIN IMPACT COSPLAYS CAME TO AN END. However, he will be replaced by Kaedehara Kazuha, although his attire reminds me of Wanderer’s, but colored red, also, he carries a sword, and he will be the second Anemo character to be cosplayed. Looks like Kazuha decided not to be present there because he had problems of the Onikabuto escaping from Inazuma… (he will be saved for the future) However, from another realm, a resonator has been directly called and chose Rover to be Kazuhas replacement! (I had to replace Kazuha for Rover from Wuthering Waves)

Last but not least, I made a decision not to be Aventurine, again, THAT DOESN’T MEAN THAT HONKAI STAR RAIL COSPLAYS HAVE ENDED. So, I decided to take a break of the Star Rail cosplays and save Aventurine as a future character. However, he will be replaced by, for the first time, a character from Cookie Run Kingdom, which is a beast cookie, will be Shadow Milk Cookie, but with the An Ad Lib Ending outfit, in which he’s dressed as a king. This will be the outfit to have short hair, and I have to use a short haired white wig and dye the half with blue for a side, also, face painting will finally return AFTER 5 YEARS. Also, this will be the first time to cosplay a villain, although I have cosplayed male protagonists and any other secondary characters, by the way. As for the prop, I will carry his staff instead of a sword for a change, and it will be 3D printed as soon as I get the model!
