Griffember day 1 (#82) - Pompadour cotinga (LC) [male]
This cotinga possesses six carotenoid pigments that seem to be entirely unique to them. The way these are produced is apparently also unique in birds! They gives the males a very distinct colour, quite unlike any other bird, even without using structural colour at all.
Rather rushed and messy today, but I didn't want to work on it more, so lets just hope the other ones will be better lol. Joining in the December griffins that @ains-art is doing!

Red-crested Cotinga Ampelion rubrocristatus
It is found in Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela. The red-crested cotinga feeds mostly on fruits and occasionally includes some insects in its diet. It forages singly, in pairs, or in small groups. It usually plucks fruit with short sallies from a perch and less often while perched. It takes insects in mid-air.
