The first is the second in a series of watercolor skill building paintings in the book Wilderness Landscapes that I started ages ago but only finished tonight:
I’m very proud of it. It’s only my second (set of four) watercolor paintings like. Ever. I still have a lot to learn but I’m so pleased with how it’s going so far.
The second started off as a quick sketch of a face to practice watercolor over only then if it’s worth doing it’s worth overdoing and I got sidetracked and stayed up until quarter of five drawing this:
It is far far faaaar from perfect but it’s also the first time I’ve drawn a face in. Fifteen years maybe? Given that, and that I wasn’t worrying about making it perfect mostly, and that I’ll be inking and painting it, I’m pretty darn happy. I was very afraid it would be so much worse, but she’s recognizable, and I’ll fucking take it. Plus it’s good to know I haven’t lost all my sketching and drawing skills, even if they’re caked in rust.
