@countinglives / new day, same shit ( cont. )
he acted almost without thinking. almost.
the sight of riku at first made him think to continue walking, hoping he didn't notice him. he got already in too many troubles, green always repeats that, and from a certain point of view... red knows it's true. for once, he really wanted to simply keep walking, and avoid him. if he was lucky, riku would have left without even knowing he was there too.
that thought lasted about three seconds. then, he heard about ‘a job’ he had.
he stopped his tracks, and couldn't bring himself to keep on going. those words alone gave him a flashback, so sudden to be almost painful, like a knife piercing through his head. a job, he had a job. and instead going to the hotel and pretend he heard nothing, he started to follow him. slowly, quietly, to understand... to see what he could do. but when riku got to his destination, everything happened so fast, red almost panicked.
and so he grabbed the first thing he found, and hit him with how much strength he had. realizing just after a moment what he had done.
... shit. calling the police would have been better.
red clenches his teeth, hands closing tightly around the piece of wood, so much to make his knuckles white. his breath is deep, forcing a rhythm in it as his eyes stare directly into riku's. he takes just a bare step back, taking that slight distance between them, and moving his improvised weapon as an invite to follow him and attack, if he dares. knowing well that he’ll dare indeed.
as long as he loses focus on his ‘job’. thing that he probably already achieved.
