"Obi-Wan suffered more than Anakin"
self-righteous bitch with an ego only recognizes the suffering of people who cope in socially acceptable ways
"Anakin suffered more than Obi-Wan"
morally questionable bitch with low self esteem tries to bring other people down a few pegs to make themselves feel better
"Suffering isn't a contest. It is impossible to compare Obi-Wan's and Anakin's suffering."
The only acceptable statement.
"I agreed with the previous statement purely in order to get people's attention for when I immediately make it into a contest again."
the worst kind of bitch there is 🖕
Kishimoto unhinged
Mothers will barely pay an ounce of attention to the eldest daughter and then once in a blue moon they're like: "I have no idea whats going on with you these days. You never tell me anything!!"
Obi-wan: Commander, I believe I'm starting to have feelings for you.
Cody in a gay panic: Cool! See you later.
*Later that night*
Cody: And I said 'cool'
Rex: Sucks to be you Codes.
Cody: I said cool...
Rex: *patting Cody*
it’s just the way the billy & karen interaction in s2 comes off as a practiced behaviour on his part - like the whole ‘using himself & his body to get something he needs’ thing
as well as the fact he just took what she was doing in stride - not once did he seem surprised by her behaviour or the fact she was reciprocating
& yeah, sure, that could’ve been the first time he’s ever been in that sort of situation but idk it just doesn’t come off like that to me
How to Over-complicate Inventing a Next Gen AU - The bullet-point list my brain did not want you to read.
Good Sequel Policy Refresh
The first story happened. It's victories should still matter, and they should be what is shaping the new timeskip'd setting
Character arcs should be respected, and any unseen character development believable.
Resolved plot lines should not be reskinned for the new kids.
Creativity over escalation.
Own the mistakes of the original, don't break things course-correcting.
Implied History
How have the characters gotten from the end of their story to parenthood? How long did it take?
What are some natural developments that can be inferred from the ending of the first story?
Who dies? Where is everyone?
Any major trajectory breaking events that have dramatically changed the world? Such as zombies? How would the characters make a zombie world I wonder.
This has nothing to do with the list. But the brain is actually relaxing I tricked it.
Anyway the Setting is a Character and aging it up isn't all that different from aging up the cast.
Dang this section is not working. Let's skip ahead to the age-up.
Age-Up
Most of the time, there's going to be an age up. Whether you're moving a child protagonist to the Adult Parent Role, or moving a canon baby to Protagonist Age.
Big thing. Do not age them up into Generic Parent Number 3. Please for my sake, do not age them up into Neglectful Generic Parent Number 3.
If the canon characters have never parented, think of how they act in their other relationships. If they are consistently kind and attentive, odds are they will be kind and attentive parents.
I accidentally added this bullet point and for incompetence reasons, cannot remove it.
Consider the way they show affection, handle conflict, deal with responsibility, manage frustration. How would this affect a tiny child? Protective, careless ect.
Given how unique the child/parent relationship is, odds are the kid will bring out some parenting instincts that the character did not know they had before. Expressing this should still be unique
Do you have any idea how they were raised? This is a gold mine. The negative and positive parts of childhood will impact how they interact with their kids, for better or for worse.
They should have a unique relationship with each of their kids.
Okay, that's enough parenting. You've also got to consider how the relationships have shifted and changed.
One thing I've really enjoyed about growing up is how the adults in my life stopped being strictly authority figures and started becoming friends. If you're aging up kids, they should get to experience that.
Another thing about growing up, you don't feel older. Everyone else just gets younger. The canon character's internal life should still be very consistent. More mature, perhaps, but the temperament is still the same.
Hang on, I was focusing on the parents. What about the antagonists? What are they doing?
Are they dead? Reformed? I mean if they're still be antagonistic they've been doing this for a while.
You'd think the undying hatred would get exhausting.
Eh, be careful with the honorary villain uncle/aunt status. It could work in some settings and with some plot-lines, but it shouldn't be the go to.
Gets a little gooey.
Implied history carries the possibility of antagonists who started antagonizing during the time skip. Unless the characters were retired from antagonist fighting all this time.
If they DID retire, they should do it in an interesting, character specific way. Same thing if they have a job. The job, and how they like it, should be very true to them
Harping on this again. Please don't make the parent boring. Think through say, the job you're giving them. They should be reacting to the job in a unique, Character-Specific way.
Technically I didn't get into the Next Gen Character part of the bullet point. But the brain is very upset that I've typed as much as I have. Short summary would be
Don't just Canon Character Jr. them. They should have stuff in common with their parents, but there should be enough differences to get solid and interesting new dynamics there.
Think in terms of Fun New Problems. Cause stress. Turn your favorite characters hair a little gray. They probably deserve it.
What about the OTHER canon characters? They should be involved too.
Hobbies and career choices aren't genetic. If kid wants to be scientist like Dad, that says something specific.
Is the New Kid a supporting character for the parents continuing arc, the new torch-bearer, or a co-protagonist? Is there a natural successor position inherit in the original plot? Does New Kid want to be like the parents?
And that is all I will say.
