@petercoxphotography Easily the most famous landmark on the Aran Islands, Dún Aonghasa on Inis Mór, Co. Galway, is magnificent. Perched nearly 100 metres above the foaming Atlantic, with massive thick stone walls, it's easy to see why so many people visit here each year. Indeed, most visitors to Inis Mór are daytrippers who want only to see this place and then leave the island—a shame, as there are many other amazing sights to see.⠀ ⠀ As a result of its popularity, during the middle of the day, the fort can be overrun with people, somewhat spoiling the impact of this incredible place. I strongly suggest overnighting on the island and visiting the fort at dawn or dusk, which is when this image was made. ⠀ ⠀ You can see a solitary figure standing at the cliff edge in this image, which gives you some idea of the scale.⠀ ⠀ #landscape #landscapephotography #photography #photographer #landscapephotographer #ireland #irish #petercox #atlantic #aranislands #dusk #galway #countygalway #inismor #dunaonghasa #cliffs #fort #stone #stonefort
