Courted (L'hermine, Christian Vincent, 2015)
L'hermine [Courted] (Christian Vincent - 2015)
Women like to be pursued. Women like occasionally to be caught without their chaperones. Now go to her.
Mary Balogh, from The Incurable Matchmaker
How would you want Steve Rogers to court you, his best girl?
Honestly, I don't do dating. So, Steve and I would hopefully get to know each other through group outings at first. Maybe friend of a friend and we get thrown together often? Or at least get to see each other on a regular basis before he asks me out?
I'm super private and a little hesitant with people I don't know so even if it's Steve Rogers, I'd be seriously on the shy side.
I would hope that he'd pick something slow paced. A walk in a park or hanging out at a coffee shop to get to know each other first.
A movie wouldn't be bad. And we'd chat the entire time (not during the movie, that drives me crazy) getting to know each other. Our views on things and what we like and dislike.
I would hope that he'd reach over and grab my hand and it would be so fucking awkward because I'd be smiling like an idiot, so ecstatic that he's holding my hand. He would be the perfect gentleman and tell lame jokes, probably, but I'd laugh at them anyway because it's cute that he's telling me lame jokes, not because they're funny.
And that's when, if we had indeed known each other for a bit or at least been familiar with each other, he'd go quiet and I'd stand there awkwardly as the tension between us changes and my heart would start racing. My hand would get clammy in his and he'd think it was cute that he can tell how nervous I am but feel lucky that I can't tell from something like clammy hands from him.
I'd stare up at him, waiting for him to do it. Neither of us would say anything and finally when I think I'm going to burst and that the awkward silence will never end he'd give me our first kiss. It's soft, just a peck as he presses his lips to mine and just holds it.
When he pulls away, I'd laugh because I'm a loser like that. But he'd smile and close the distance a bit more and kiss me more deeply.
Eventually that kiss ends and we keep walking and talking, both hopeful for the future.
At the end of the day, he walks me to my door and we linger awkwardly again but for much less time and he gives me another kiss. Sweet but quick. And he'd tell me good night, shoving his hands into his pockets as he smiles at me sweetly, backing away. I'd give him a wave and probably die as soon as my front door is closed.
