[also here are the heights for them {including a placeholder for you XD}]
------------------[Story below]----------------
It was a cooler day and the King had finally agreed to join you on a walk but under the condition that he gets to show you around. As he opens the door for you stepping out into the courtyard. Shielding your eyes from the sunlight as you step outside with the king stepping ahead of you.
“I’m glad you talked me into coming out with you my Prince/Princess. It truly is a lovely day.”
You look up to see him smiling which brings a warmness into your chest. As you continue on the walk through the courtyard you feel an overwhelming sense of calm wash over you. You catch yourself glancing at the king’s hand as you start to walk through an area that isn’t familiar to you.
“If you don’t mind, I’d like to show you the garden outside of the Kingdom’s Court. It should have more colors that you’d enjoy.”
Noticing your hesitance he smiles and outreaches his hand to you, it takes a moment but you slowly interlock your hand with his. He smiles and he continues leading you down to where another garden comes into view and just like he said, it’s full of every color you could think of. The king stops, letting go of your hand and sits on a bench as you look around.
“We can stay here as long as you’d like to, my Prince/Princess, this place is yours to enjoy after all.”
You hear him chuckles softly as you walk over to a giant rose bush, counting all the flowers you could see. As you look at the roses you feel something grab at your ankle, pulling you through the bushes. Before you can make sense of what just happened the king is already at your side looking at you worried.
“Oh my! Are..are you alright, did you fall?”
You watch as his ears fall slightly as he notices a small scratch on your cheek from the rose bush.
“I’m so sorry you got hurt my dear prince/princess, let me help you up.”
He softly grabs your hand, aiding you to your feet as he gently runs his thumb over the scratch healing it instantly. If you didn’t know any better you swear you could see small tears forming at the corners of his eyes.
“ Let’s continue on shall we? There is plenty more for us to see out here.”
You nod as you gently reach up, wiping the golden tears from the king's eyes. Taking his hand into yours once again, as he sighs, leading you back onto the brick path. You can see the nearby waterline ahead of you, you’ve never seen the ocean before and the kind smiles notice you looking.
“It’s beautiful isn’t it? I often find myself watching the waves as the sun sets. I always found it tranquil, it reminds me of when I was younger.”
He offers to take you closer which you happily agree to as the sound of your feet walking on stone turn into the soft crunching of sand. As you get closer you can smell the ocean water, you can’t help but smile as a cool breeze blows past you both.
The king walks over to the shore line, taking a minute before kneeling down and picking up a summer shell. He clears the sand off of it as he walks over and hands it to you.
“I was always fascinated by the shells that washed up, I used to be an avid collector.”
As you put the shell into your pocket something in the corner of your eye catches your attention. It's a giant door that is built into the cliffside, it’s different from the many doors you’ve seen in the Kingdom. Instead of the warm comfortable glows of yellow and gold you’ve grown used to, it's extremely dull and dark. There are thorny vines that wrap around the crumbling pillars, not helping its features of being jagged and sharp, it's extremely intimidating but at the same time you feel yourself drawn to it. Which the king notices.
“I see you’ve noticed the door ... .no one is really allowed in there except myself and the watchers. That place isn’t exactly the greatest here..”
You notice his slight sorrowful expression that’s mixed with coldness? No…it doesn’t feel like that, it feels like he’s worried about what’s in the door. Despite the intimidation that keeps building, you can’t help but want to look so you work up the courage to ask.
The king is stunned his expression morphs from his shock into one of concern as he looks back to the door.
“You…really want to see what’s inside? Like I said…it isn’t the most pleasant place to go into.”
You notice that he seems to be a little scared himself, so this time you offer your hand to him. He looks for a minute before sighing, taking your hand into his and giving a soft smile.
“If you want to see what’s inside there my prince/princess, i’ll allow it ... .but if it gets too much please tell me…and we’ll leave.”
You nod as you feel the king pull you lightly closer to him as you get closer to the door. You can feel the intensity of dread coming from the door as you set your feet onto the steps.
“Are you alright my prince/princess? Do you still want to go inside? I understand if you don’t.”
You just squeeze his hand as you nod, the King nods back as you both stand right at the door. The king lets out a deep breath as he raises his hand to the door. You watch as small golden ribbons made of light make their way into the giant padlock, clicking as the doors slowly swing open.
“Don’t worry my prince/princess, your powers will come in time once you find your calling.”
The cold air that rushes past you is bitter, the sense of dread getting every stronger. You both take a minute to collect yourselves before taking a step inside. The room is dim, the only source of light coming from the torches and the king himself. The place looks like a prison, with many people held behind magical barriers in various stages of mental deterioration. Many of them just sat on their beds, looking at the wall in their “cell”.
“This place is for those who have broken the rules of our Kingdom…ot have fallen into corruption that we are unsure of.. Sometimes individuals are sent here if they’ve done things deemed to be out of their line of justice. We don’t want them here forever, we want to try and make them better, give them a new chance at life…”
You keep your eyes on the king as you walk further down the room until you reach the end. Where you feel your heart drop to the bottom of your stomach. In the “cell” in front of you is a man you never wanted to see again, he was called “The Shadow Blight”. Known for waiting until the darkness of night to stalk your village and murder someone with his bare hands.
You overheard from the rumors that it was possible he could melt anything he touched, including humans. You often did your best to avoid him but one night you weren’t so lucky. But you don’t want to remember that, however the man seems to remember you. He charges up to the barrier slamming against it, making you and the king jump.
“YOU! How dare you show your face here! I’m now locked in the nightmarish hellhole! Do you feel happy taking a father away from his son?!”
You hadn’t realised it but the fear of seeing him, and now him screaming out at you. You’re shaking trying to hold back the sobs that threaten to come out of you. That is until you are turned away from him and pulled into a tight hug by the king before he picks you up, growing back to his normal height.
“ How dare you yell at them, your capture was of your own making! The fact that you’re stupid enough to think otherwise is disgusting. As for your son…even though you don’t deserve the title of “father” he’s happier where he is now. He’s been away from your influence way before your capture.”
You’ve never heard the King get this mad, he’s always been so patient and kind. You curl up against the King trying to calm yourself down when your mind catches the mention of a..son? You didn’t know that “The Shadow Blight” had a son, let alone that the king knew him. But you didn’t have much time to think about that as the King carried you outside and locked the door while the man had begun screaming again.
“I’m sorry that happened, my prince/princess…that man as you know, isn’t a good one. He wasn’t even a decent father….His son knows he’s here, but doesn’t want to ever see him.”
The king sighed heavily realizing he had been ranting, before looking down at your curled up frame, his heart felt heavy seeing you like this.
“Lets go home, it’s about nighttime anyways.”
