one thing about polish cousine that i don't see being talked about enough is soups. us poles, and slavs in general, love soups. i could probably name 15 off the top of my head. it's not an appetizer or anything of the sort, it's a full course, a sustaining meal, something i've been having for dinner almost daily for my whole life. foreigners who only know pierogi and kiełbasa totally don't know what they're missing.
"ooh but it's not enough for a full meal, i need something of substance!!" add pasta. add more veggies. bits of meat. rice. lentils. groats. beans. of course it's not filling if it's just broth 😭 think somewhere between cream soup and stew with a broth base. get whatever you have in your fridge and dump it in the pot. enjoy. fall in love.
