I'm putting together an e-anthology about the Brittonic pantheon (I'm including Welsh & Arthurian figures for this as well). Details on my Lay of the North Sea blog
For a while now, I’ve been wanting to put together a collection or rather an anthology of poems, myths, prayers, rituals, and so on revolvin
Coventina, Sonjia Tremain, Cornwall. 2007, Stone Circle Sculptures.
Coventina was a water spirit in Northern England whose worship blossomed into a cult in the late second century CE. Her spring was located near Carrawburgh on Hadrian’s Wall. Water was drawn from the spring until Victorian times. While ancient images of her show her as a young woman, with no fish legs, she has been re-imagined here as a mermaid whose tails are elegantly coiled in Celtic-inspired knots. Original picture at this lovely blog.

— to my bestfriend ⋆˚✿˖°
there’s this word — “home.” she uses it every time she writes about me, as if it were the only word big enough to hold all that she feels. for most, it might sound simple, ordinary even, but for her, it carries the warmth of safety, the softness of calm, and the quiet comfort of being understood. she calls me home. and maybe that’s why everything feels lighter when we’re together — because she sees me as the light in the windows when everything turns dark, the gentle silence after the storm, the familiar scent that whispers, “you can rest now.” to her, i am that rare kind of belonging you don’t go looking for, but find by accident one evening — and never want to lose again. i am that home we never truly leave, even when we wander too far. and if i am her home, then she is the heart that beats within it.

✨️ For Coventina(aka C) & Ale?
Man, you had to make it tricky with two characters, eh? ;) That's alright. I'm all for a challenge.
For C, simply a pair of elegant elk antlers. Fresh from a young elk who just lost this pair. She smells of eagerness and inexperience, the musk of hunting outdoors. Of trying to live up to a family name where great expectations are bestowed upon her.
For Ale? Something special. A branch from The Tree of Life that is constantly withering away whilst at the same time regrowing and blooming. Speaking to the neverending cycle of nature itself. Ale smells of fields of lilies and daffodils. Very fragrant and calming.
