Title: Somewhere Deep in the Dark

Summary: It was supposed to be a routine flight through Russia, but the crew find themselves in an impossible situation. With a crash landing looming, will G-ERTI be able to perform? And Russia in the winter can be a cold, dark place…

Reccer’s comments: This is my favourite “plane crash” CP fic, which explores the aftermath of an emergency landing in snowy Russia and the crew’s reactions to the situation. It combines adventure, tension, humour as well as romance - a great all-rounder fic! I liked that all characters are given an equal amount of attention (Herc gets a few scenes as well). There was real suspense right till the end, which I loved!

Fic Rec: The One Secret Arthur Kept (Lydia_E_Nheers)

Title: The One Secret Arthur Kept

Pairings: Marked None (but past DouglasxHelena)

Summary:   We don't find out that Douglas' divorce from Helena until Vaduz. But I like to think that perhaps Arthur found out first.

When Arthur finds Douglas sitting alone in the portakabin looking sad, he finds out why and tries to help.

Reccer’s comments: It’s Douglas and Arthur interacting, from Arthur’s point of view and it’s just awesome. Arthur is extremely perceptive, as he can be, but still his usual slightly clueless self. There’s a few moments of humour and a few even more heartouching ones. It’s also a short fic.

Summary:   Douglas' cockiness gets him in trouble again, and the Abu Dhabi cat gets its revenge.

Reccer’s comments: A little bit of Douglas whump never hurt anyone, and this one fits the blll nicely.  The description of Douglas in the dark hold is particularly compelling.

Reccer’s comments: This is utterly adorable and completely hiliarous. Short but brilliant. Set post-series, this is a lovely little scene of what life at OJS might be like. And the ending is perfect.

Fic Rec: A Quiet House (gwevyan)

Title: A Quiet House

Pairings: Carolyn/Herc

Summary: From a prompt on cabinpres-fic.dreamwidth.org: Arthur moves out and despite all expectations, makes a good go of it. Carolyn, however, is having the worst case of empty nest syndrome the airfield has ever seen. [And takes it out on her poor pilots, until Martin has a breakdown and Douglas turns scary.]

Reccer’s comments: It may be focused on Carolyn’s reaction -and her desperation to not be a ‘little old lady’- but this fic also has an extremely touching friendship between Douglas and Martin. Arthur is a little unrepresented but that’s perhaps the point. And while there’s a strong current of angst in this fic, there’s so many amusing moments too.

Fic Rec: Stuck In Arrivals (JessamyGriffith)

Title: Stuck In Arrivals Rating: Mature

Pairings: None

Summary: Carolyn has a clever business model for MJN Air that will take advantage of the reintegration of Partially Deceased Syndrome sufferers back into society. Douglas has regrets. Arthur has his usual cheerful lookout on life... and Martin? Has issues. And really, really needs a job.

An AU Cabin Pressure fusion with In The Flesh, starting from before the inception of MJN. Warnings: Graphic Depictions Of Violence Reccer’s comments: Another zombie fic but again one that even the most zombie hating of us managed to like. A crossover, but one you don’t need to know In The Flesh to read (trust us, we didn’t). This fic explores the relationships between the characters; using the AU to highlight what the canon shows. Well paced, believable and above all enjoyable, it’s well worth a read! Link: Here

Summary: As long as everyone else believes you're absolutely fine, you're absolutely fine. Warnings: No Warnings Apply Reccer’s comments: Definitely one of the best fics around that explore Herc and Douglas’ relationship and in an interesting but Cabin Pressure-y way. The dialogue is all in character and the conclusion is brilliant. Well worth a read! Link: Here
