Hi, this might be a strange question but who is Donald Blake and what connection does he have to Thor? Was he ever a real person or...?

they have done a ton of weird stuff with Donald (most of it was retcons) and for a time he was actually a separate person but I guess to put it simply he’s Thor’s alter ego

originally Donald Blake was created by Odin to teach Thor compassion and humility as Donald was a kinda meek medical student with a bad leg who walked with a cane, he would actually like fully transform and there where a lot of funny scenes of him being like “sorry I have to go secretly explode into Thor” lol

also Thor would turn back into Donald if he didn’t touch mjolnir for like a minute or something which definitely didn’t happen all the time and wasn’t basically the major point of tension in most of his early comics lol

but later when Thor was resurrected Donald Blake became like a separate person but last I remember he had his head cut off and was living in some sort of perpetual happy dream state in Asgard 

it sounds like to me under all the tension of being King of Asgard and killing Galactus and stuff he’s gonna use the Donald Blake alter ego to take like a vacation from his responsibilities
