"I love how many weird things are me and Taliesin speaking in code to each other."
- Brennan Lee Mulligan, ep 3 Cooldown.
Beneath the cut are presented some of the portentous, cryptic and weird things that Brennan and Taliesin have said while onscreen together which may possibly be code (or may just be them being them)
Episode 1 , 2:50:20 Beacon, 3:05:20 youtube
Brennan:
Thjazi's final moment, an incredible show ... of force.
The first execution in the history of the city of Dol-Makjar carried out exclusively under the authority of the Chamber of Lords-Advisory.
An auspicious day for the power of the Sundered Houses.
Taliesin:
*surprised laughter*
*continued laughter*
Fuck.
Episode 1, 2:36:20 Beacon, 2:51:20 YouTube
Brennan:
... this is a ton of information that now calls out to you in terms of, whatever happens next from here, you have stuff in places in the museum that Murray probably should not go.
Episode 1, 2:39:52 Beacon, 2:54:50 YouTube
Brennan:
As Murray heads out, Bolaire, you have your private areas of the Lloy wing to check. Moving deeper down into off limits areas of the Lloy Wing, moving past a certain hallway, back towards the vault where there may be some interesting objects to peruse, or texts to talk to here, you keep thinking about the fact that you heard Thaisha say it.
Mask, there was a mask in the box.
And you think about how long you waited for that tool to make a noise.

Brennan:
As the gods were destroyed, their realms of rest vanished.
In the worst instances of catastrophe and doom-saying by the population, some believe that they were destroyed and all those eternal souls destroyed due to the hubris of the mortals that rose up against the gods.
Others that, you know, the clerics that have come since that work in theoretical metaphysics that Bolaire would be well aware of, believe that the afterlives are still out there, just untethered from Aramán currently.
That's a matter of theology and conjecture and a lot of very flustered clerics would tell a worried mortal, "We're working on it."
Taliesin:
*snorts*
Oh no.
Episode 2, 0:31:40 Beacon & YouTube
Brennan:
...you realise as you're looking at this, and looking at this ancient halfling language on it, you're not looking at a box. You're looking at a coffin.
Taliesin:
Ooh. It's halfling?
Brennan:
Halfling-sized.
Taliesin:
It's halfling-sized?
Brennan:
About that big is a coffin for a halfling.
Taliesin:
Oh boy.
Episode 2, 0:34:34 Beacon & YouTube
Brennan:
Bolaire, you're looking at this box. On that 24, you know there are things here that are escaping your attention at the moment, but you know where you have resources to dig in, where you have research and knowledge specifically about objects of this construction.
Taliesin:
Is the box closed right now?
Brennan:
It is open, and as you see that roiling mist in there, I think you in particular, you feel your stomach gurgle or turn a little bit in a way that, on a physical level, is jarring.
Taliesin:
I cannot go through this here.
Can anyone close the box without touching it?
Episode 3, 2:19:50 Beacon, 2:49:10 YouTube
Brennan:
... on a 21 you're looking at [the paint] and like, the answers run all the way from the very grim which is like, it's either magic you've never seen before or this was sitting at the back of a workshop in the Penteveral for too long and it got weird.
Taliesin:
He wouldn't have given it to me to give to him if it were dangerous, I assume. It's just better safe than sorry.
Brennan:
It doesn't strike you as dangerous. You can tell that everything about it, there's nothing coiled within this necessarily.
Taliesin:
I trust nothing right now.
Episode 3, 2:21:48 Beacon, 2:51:07 YouTube
Liam:
'We were planning on swinging by later to find you, you've saved us the trip. What is all this?'
Taliesin:
'Well-'
Aabria:
'And why are you in this mood?'
Taliesin:
'Aaaah! It's so good to see you!'
Aabria:
'Hi! That sounded insincere.'
Taliesin:
'No it didn't. I always sound insincere.'
Aabria:
'Okay fair. Hi!'
Taliesin:
'But no it's ah it's lovely to see you, and this place just brings out the best in me. It's beautiful.'
Episode 3, 2:28:50 Beacon, 2:58:10 YouTube
Brennan:
Bolaire, I will ask you at this moment, as you open the paint, looking at Hal whose looking a little bit perplexed, I'd like you to give me a perception check, and I'd also like you to give me a constitution saving throw.
Taliesin:
Perception check is 14, constitution saving throw is 13.
Brennan:
Looking around on a 14, I think you are looking at this place where a god would demand tribute and on that perception check I think you just feel the nascent magic in this place of something bubbling, something boiling, there's something under this city that's running hot and on a 13 constitution save the feeling of that magical energy I think you feel something turn and slither in a way that makes you feel ill at ease.
Taliesin:
Have I noticed this since specifically in this place, do I feel that it's connected to this place?
Brennan:
I think that you don't feel that the discomfort is due to this place. Actually, maybe the awareness of the discomfort is being caused by this place. In other words, some clarity has been added in this moment.
Taliesin:
*looks a bit nauseous*
'Excuse me I-'
Aabria:
'You okay?'
Taliesin:
'Um just a bit unsettled.'
Aabria:
'Do you want some fruit leather to settle your stomach?'
Taliesin:
*Chuckes*
'No. Wine but...'
Aabria:
'It's morning.'
Taliesin:
'Oh it's morning somewhere.'
Aabria:
'Here, now!'
