Both times Laudna was murdered it was to send a message to someone else - but the first time, it was for her resemblance to a stranger. For some noblewoman she had never met and would never meet, based on nothing she’d done: just the tragedy of looking a little like someone else.

The second time, it was because Laudna - Laudna, herself - was somebody’s favorite. The second time, it was because someone loved her so much it couldn’t be anyone else.
