i ship koushiro with taichi mainly, but also with hikari bc idk idk idk i just think they’re so cute together. but really, other than that, i really don’t ship him with any of the dd girls (def not with sora and i’ll be long dead before i ship him with mimi).

15. what’s their favourite activity?

romantic? kissing. contrary to popular belief, they have very chaste kisses and those have a lot of meaning for both of them (mimi kisses yamato on the shoulder because she’s so small! and he on her wrists’ pulse; and these are special because they’re each other’s places, like where they’re marking each other as ‘mine’), and they really fucking enjoy making out, okay?

non romantic? making music. yamato has more of a professional interest in it, mimi really only ever does it for fun but they sit together and he’s songwriting and mimi sings back his melodies for him and helps him harmonize and fine-tune his work, and that’s something that’s really fun, and special, and personal. in the end, they realise that there’s bits of both of them in the music they create and that’s something you don’t just ignore, you know?

24. do they stargaze? expand.

they do. yamato got into astronomy since he was very young and space always held a sort of fascination for him (he became an astronaut, didn’t he?). he never expected to share that with mimi, but she surprised him by knowing about constellations for reasons completely different to him. while his is a sort of scientific curiousity and existential fascination, mimi is overwhelmed by the beauty of the universe and moved by the sentimentality of the people who dedicated their lives to studying the stars. she likes learning the old stories, the ones that people used to share before astronomy was a science and when it was still a mysterious sort of divination, when the gods shaped the constellations to honour their lovers, when people believed that the souls of the people they loved became stars after they were gone. and so it’s something they really enjoy, wondering what else is out there, and what other people may have felt while talking, or crying, or kissing under the same stars.

26. who complains more?

sora is an absolute mother hen, so naturally, that’ll be her. she always means well and she never really nags (though taichi claims she does), but between the both of them ... well, let’s just say sora has more of a right than taichi to complain (seriously taichi, get a fucking grip). taichi is really just too out there to notice some things and mostly, he’s very oblivious (though not nearly as much as people think he is), but the fact is he really doesn’t mind that sora takes hours picking out hats, that she always smells like flowers, or always tells him his hair is too long but never actually stops touching it...

38. who glitterizes everything?

taichi. it started innocently enough, once sora complained about mimi’s need to add glitter to everything she owned and taichi took it to mean quite literally everything. since then he has glitterized hairpins, keychains, notebooks, pocket mirrors and, most recently, a pair of chopsticks. sora pretends to complain about having to shower several times to get the glitter out of her hair, but she’s secretly loving all the attention (of course everyone knows).

#47 for mimato pls. - the detailed headcanon meme thingy. (P.S. you know this already BUT I LOVE UR WRITING)

You’re not making this easy for me, are you? I already expect this to be too long, but okay, I love it. Warning: I am going to completely disregard the epilogue without actually dissing canon, so bear with me, please.

47. If they were to fall in love, who (or what) is their ideal?

If they were to fall in love, I imagine it would be a bit of a slow burn, the kind of thing that quietly creeps under your skin . There’s this phrase by John Green that says “I fell in love the way you fall asleep: slowly at first, and then all at once”, that comes to mind when I think of this pairing (I don’t usually quote John Green’s novels but I’ll make an exception for my OTP).

For Mimi, her ideal would be a person that is introspective enough to understand where she comes from, even through her antics. She’d want someone who will support her and advice her without imposing or trying to force his point-of-view on her; someone who will not stand down or shy away from letting her know she’s wrong, but wouldn’t diminish her feelings in the process. In this way, I feel that she would do better with Yamato than Jyou, who can be a bit imposing, and Taichi, who can be very dismissive or unaware of others’ feelings.

I think Yamato could be the sort of balance she needs to truly blossom without getting too carried away with her selfish, sometimes child-like ideas. She is a bright young lady, friendly, outgoing and over all, sincere, and she would be most appreciative of someone who loves her without apologies, without demands, faults and all. He would be an anchor for her, support her in her plans and dreams and actually understand that sometimes he just needs to be there, without trying to improve her methods or fix her problems for her.

I know that a lot of people in this fandom like over-analyzing characters that were created to be much simpler than we make them and that’s great, that’s fantastic material, but if we’re doing this, then you have to understand that a lot of the material is assumed or inferred by the audience, and not necessarily intended by the writers. I don’t think they really intended that I’d jump to this conclusion, but there are several things about Mimi and Yamato that I find very complementary, and these are the things I touch on when I search for basis to ship them. (Note: I don’t think anyone really needs  a reason to ship a couple, but it’s fun trying to make sense of it anyway.)

For Yamato, Mimi would be exactly the kind of person who finds a way to get under his skin. I could imagine it happening so slowly, so softly that before he knows it, she’s already made a spot for herself between his ribs and called it home. I find them very similar in that I feel both of them are the kind of people who naturally wear their hearts upon their sleeves, only Mimi doesn’t make a big deal out of it and Yamato does. Mimi’s family taught her that feelings are important and should be expressed in healthy ways; Yamato, on the other hand, learned to keep to himself, to bear burdens on his own and always keep his heart in check.

I think she could teach him to be comfortable in his own skin, how to accept love, and friendship, and that love doesn’t have to be sacrificial, or quiet, or soft. She could teach him it’s okay to need other people, to want other people, and to let them in; and he could show her how to keep her feet grounded while still maintaining her head above the clouds. He could also learn how important it is not to keep things bottled up inside, and be genuine and honest about what he thinks and what he feels, without apologising or being condescending about it.

There is also a quiet intensity in Yamato, he has the sort of energy that is always just below the surface, ready to be channeled and Mimi could be a conduit for it, help him loosen up while he helps her focus her own. I think they could share a lot of interests, like music and culture, and that they would relate to the other in sometimes feeling like an outsider in their own country (I strongly headcanon Yamato is sometimes called out as a gaijin for his French heritage and so is Mimi, after coming back so Americanized). I also believe that her own family experience would help him slowly rekindle to his own, however mismatched, dysfunctional little family.

Mimi is pure energy, the sort of girl who needs to constantly move around, change, find, explore and reinvent herself. Yamato could be her home, her constant, a reminder of who she is and how no matter how much she changes on the outside, he’s always seen past that and loved her for who she is. In turn, Mimi could help him reconcile with parts of himself he doesn’t feel comfortable with, the role of a brother, a son, a friend, and a lover.

Idk man, I just have a lot of intense feelings for this ship and sometimes I feel a little crazy for shipping them so hard, but they’re really, to me, the sort of couple who could bring out the best out of each other and always want more, more, more. I don’t even think I answered the question right? But this is why I believe they are, at the end of the day, ideal for each other.
