Update on the moondrop hat I've been working on. It's going good so far. I'm using a 5mm size yarn.

I still need to make and sew on more stars. Also got white somewhat fluffy yarn for the rim of the hat.

Biggest lesson I've learned so far while experimenting, if you're going to sew in stars. Make sure the yarn you use for the stars, is the same size yarn that you use for the hat. Or else the star will look weird.

Rug Update

Because a LOT of you like holy crap a lot of you seemed keen to see how this turned out, It’s been rather slow going since I had two large-ish first time baking projects get in the way (4 kings cakes and fresh tarts after that)

Firstly I less than intelligently put the ‘rope’ through the washer/dryer so yay frayed edges and coiling.

Went out and bought some heavy duty needles and a properly fitting thimble because getting through denim by hand is a BITCH. (yes tutorials say I can/should do this on a machine but mine isn’t set up so longways we go For the record the rope is about 1in wide

Rug stitching round 1 = 1.5hrs

Rug stitching round 2- 2hrs

Rug stitching Round 3- 3hrs 28min

Rug stitching round 4- 1hr 45min

Rug time log 5 1hr 14min Rug time log 6 1hr 20 min So roughly 11hrs and 20minutes of stitching in and I’ve still got 41ft of ‘rope’ left.

Day home after traveling for 3 days. What do I do? Find myself locked out of the office where the paint is and unable to get the idea I have in my head out. So....i go to the basement and start getting things together to work on embroideries. No power cord to the sewing machine. There goes my creative day off! Yogurt and back to bed it is. I was given a sign.
