💘 Cupid!Buck
For a second, Buck is tempted to spill it all. To tell her about what’s going on with Doug. How for once, he’s been able to protect her, even if it’s hurting him. But as Buck looks over at his sister, takes in the relaxed pose of her shoulders, thinks of the way she had smiled at Chim, how much better she’s doing, he realizes that he can’t. He knows though that Maddie will want something from him. “Eddie is over me.” Buck says instead of the other truth he’d rather share. Her eyebrows draw together, her head cocking to the side, “What do you mean?” “I guess I used to glow.” Buck mumbles, dropping his gaze to his lap, “And he said I don’t anymore.” “Oh. Evan…” “I mean,” He shrugs, “It had to happen, right? If not now, eventually. We’d never last.” “You don’t mean that.”
🐺 Werewolf!Eddie
Eddie loves Buck, though. He knows he does. It’s just…he can’t have Buck be his mate. He can’t. While Eddie knows that Buck is it for him, being in love with him doesn’t trap him. If Eddie tells Buck that he thinks Buck is his mate, then that leads to… Eddie has read enough to know that marking a mate is a serious thing. More serious than marriage. And while Eddie would absolutely love calling Buck his husband in the future, that’s still not a permanent thing. If for some reason, and Eddie honestly doesn’t think he’ll be surprised if this happens, Buck discovers he doesn’t love Eddie, he can leave. Maybe being with a werewolf will become too much. Maybe someone better will come along and Buck will want to go be with them. It will absolutely destroy Eddie, but he’d let Buck go. Because why would Buck want to spend the rest of his life with a man that becomes a wolf at least once a month? No. Buck cannot be Eddie’s mate. Because Eddie cannot and will not trap Buck.
