My headcanon is that Craig, in fact, can cook. His wife left when Annika was little, and Craig didn’t want his kid to eat only junk food. Craig has always been a good learner, so soon he manged to prepare some simple meals. Mostly he took the cooking as a responsibility - there were times he really enjoyed it, but mostly it was just okay for him, he didn’t hate it but it didn’t give him much excitement either. 

When Annika grew older, he relaxed a little (or maybe just started feeling genuinley tired because even with such a good daughter being a single dad can be hard), plus he’s a busy man, so now he rather seldom cooks. Annika can cook something herself, or they can order something...

That’s why he really surprised you once when he prepared a romantic dinner for the two of you all by himself. You absolutely didn’t expect such talents from his part. It still didn’t become regular practice in your household, but he doesn’t mind helping you in the kitchen at times (which can also be quite romantic).

There still is that request about fighting and making up with Craig on Rockwell blog, and I actually really hope to write it one day (because it’s a really good idea!), but I’m waiting for inspiration. One of the problems with anon requests is that you never know if they actually read/enjoyed the final result because they don’t give any feedback, and that’s why it doesn’t really add motivation :’) So if you’re the same anon - please be patient with me :))

I haven’t done this since 2018, but domestic headcanons are the best, love this stuff <3

Domestic life with Craig Hunter would include...

Having a very classic morning routine. Your mornings usually start with the alarm clock. Craig gets up first, kisses you good morning and heads to the bathroom. You can spend some extra time in bed while he’s there, or you sneak into the shower to join him if the both of you are in the mood.

Having a family breakfast. By the time you’re done with the morning routine, Craig’s already in the kitchen and you can smell the coffee. Annika appears from her room and you have breakfeast together. After the breakfast Craig drives Annika to school and you to work, if you don’t have other plans.

Lunchtime dates. You and Craig like to meet during the lunchtime and  go to your favorite coffeeshop. Once when you had a day off and he was at work, you cooked lunch at home and surprised Craig with it. You ate in the park not far from his office, and you made a mental note to do it again sometime. Craig’s job can be pretty stressful and he needs a little relaxing break during the day.

Romantic evenings... Yes, Craig is often busy and thinks too much about work sometimes. But sometimes when Annika is out with her friends, he can just buy a bottle of good wine and even flowers for you, order some food from the restaurant, and organize a date for you right there in the dining room.

... And regular evenings too. Sometimes you both are just too tired for fancy stuff. So all the three of you just have dinner while talking about how your day was, then Annika usually goes to her room to do her regular teenager stuff, and you just cuddle on the sofa while watching a movie. And it’s good too.

Reminding him sometimes that taking a break is important. Sometimes Craig is just too much into his work. He’s a divorce lawyer, and we all know that divorce can be a real drama sometimes. Sometimes Craig even has to take his work home, and instead of relaxing after dinner he sits at the table with his glasses on, surrounded by the papers. When you notice him drowning in work, you usually come over, place your hands on his shoulders and start massaging gently. It works in most of the cases. If it doesn’t, you’ve got a secret weapon - kisses on the back of his neck would make him melt for sure.

Lazy weekends. Craig’s one of those people who feel a bit guilty and kinda uncomfortable when they are unproductive. You taught him it’s okay to just do nothing sometimes. One weekend when Annika was out on a school trip, you literally spent two days in bed and it was exactly what you both needed.

You comforting him after a hard day, and him comforting you as well when you need it. Craig is the most reliable person in your life, and simply being held by him never fails to give you much needed comfort, even when literally everything sucks. You know he’s there to support you, and he knows you’re here to support him too. That’s the best thing about your relationship :)
