I learned all about the geologic history of Crater Lake the other day (three cheers for Ranger talks!). An incredible history of violence, destruction, and upheaval lies in the story of such a peaceful and beautiful place. It has made me think about change and time and the many stories and ways of creativity and creation. Not all change is nice or easy or good, and some change involves eruptions and collapsing mountains, but all change opens up possibilities for transformation. Ever since the Ranger’s talk, I have had the first verse of this song, Everything Is Moving So Fast, by Great Lake Swimmers in my head.
