“ Taking something that we believe, or something that has proven to work, and destroying it in peculiar ways in order to see what remains means we’re risking time and, in effect, our very beliefs.” - Tanner Christensen
Creativity and “Impostor Syndrome”
“ To be a true creative means you’re constantly pushing to do the work itself, regardless of the tools you’re using. If you’re a creative, you’ll find a way to make the work with whatever have in front of you anyway, right? Isn’t that the definition of creativity? “
I wish the original post wasn’t anonymous that does’t make it any less true. The post itself speaks less on overcoming impostor syndrome and more on misplaced dependency on tools and software to combat “Impostor Syndrome” but as I, myself, help friends combat this feeling it seems more like some lack of confidence pulled from what they describe as feeling unsuccessful.
My hope is that we can replace a nebulous idea of living in a state of Success with an environment where professionals gain confidence and push onward to greater things though accepting moments of Success as they greet them.
Say hello to the Creative Something Podcast
Do you love podcasts? You'll love this.
I'm proud to announce the official launch of the Creative Something Podcast with hosts: me (Tanner Christensen) and my good friend, writer James Gunter.
We've been trying to get this podcast recorded and out the door for a few months now and finally have something to share, available only on iTunes currently.
In the Creative Something Podcast we'll be talking about ideation, what it means to be creative, how to be more creative in the work place (or school) and so much more.
Check the show out in the iTunes Podcast Store right here, on your computer or iPhone. And be sure to subscribe there so you can get new episodes as we release them each week.
Yay!
Why wait for an idea to strike?

“The best ideas...” (Hint: let it load.)
To have more creative ideas we need to evaluate not the color of the room or the size of our notebook, but instead whether or not we got a full night of sleep, what motivation we’re dealing with, our level of interest and curiosity, our ability to tinker and experiment...
What really matters for having ideas and why the color of your room doesn't matter
