Jesus asks this question in two different situations within Mark 10. First, it’s directed at His disciples James and John, who want to sit at His right and left in glory. They want positions of power and prominence. The second time, it’s asked of a blind man named Bartimaeus, who simply says, “I want to see.” A friend of mine taught on this passage this week and said, “How easy it is to turn from asking Jesus to let us see, and see Him, to asking to be seen and recognized.” How would you answer this question if Jesus asked you?
